I still can't get used to the idea of mainframes with a removable CPU. Back when I was a lad (yeah, I know) if you wanted to move the CPU you disconnected the cooling pipes and the data cables then used a forklift to relocate the cabinet.  :-DD
Should you find yourself in a chronically leaking boat, energy devoted to changing vessels is likely to be more productive than energy devoted to patching leaks.

I remember those blue IBM Ramdacs on the Imagine 2 VGA cards.
