Where to buy old Flir cores?
« on: September 01, 2019, 04:24:12 pm »
Hi people.
One of my friend want to find an older Flir core such as Photon/Quark/Tau1, because the newer ones are too expensive for him.
It can be second-hand or new-old-stock, but he cannot find anything online, so I help him to ask here.
Thank you!

EBay or Sierra Pacific Innovations (SPi)

 http://spi-wholesale.com/

I have previously written about how to obtain reasonably priced, good quality thermal cores from ex fire fighting cameras. Just look back through the last few months postings in this Thermal forum.

I saw this on eBay recently - https://www.ebay.de/itm/flir-micron-alpha-a10-infrared-thermal-cameras-lot-160x120-30hz-lwir-imager/233259564154

It is for parts only/not tested but a good lot for someone that wants to tinker with the really old cores.

The 5 lenses look like Raytheon AS2000 lens blocks.
Around 8mm f/1

50° FoV on 160x120 @ 47um

Well, I think that they are Indigo Omega cores, with that same characteristics, except for the pixel width. And that's why they remain on ebay since a long time, because everyone here that knows their resolution don't want those cores. If at least one of the lenses were a 18mm, would be worthy the try to test if one of the cores could be a 320x240.
