Thermal Eye 300D, How do I record with a DVR?
« on: June 11, 2017, 10:09:49 pm »
Hello everyone. I am new to thermal cameras, and have no experience with wiring. I just got a used Thermal Eye 300D for my bat research. However, I was told I need to connect it to a battery pack and DVR in order to operate.

Can someone tell me how to do this?

Here are the battery and DVR I plan to use. I've also attached a picture of the camera.

Battery pack:

DVR:

Thanks,
Mike

Hi Mikejin
I do not know the thermal eye, but as far as i can see it can take from 9-32v, so your battery pack should be fine.
The hd dvr is rated at 5-32v so battery pack fine here to.
in generel i have experience in wirring up theese mini dvr`s - but not your thermal eye, so please check the schematic, and try to get some second hand oppinion :-)
You can also try to google "fpv setup" in general (as long as the thermal eye have direct video out) it is the same setup as "fpv"
I hope you get it to work and "catch" some bats :-)

Did the seller tell you the pinout of the core? I guess the black is power- and the red is power+, the white and green to an RCA(I can't see it's an RCA or not in the photo) is the video output.
Also do you want the system work on drone? If not I would not recommend that DVR, not only because that looks low quality and overpriced, but you also need a separate monitor to see the output in real time.
