Opgal Therm-App Line up- Where'd it go/MD camera???
« on: May 30, 2020, 09:55:22 pm »
So, I'm reaching out to Opgal  to see about doing a re-calibration and reseat the USB slightly(it recessed a little, (it works perfectly still) ) on my HZ (which I love and has served me amazingly well)
And i browsed their website and noticed I couldn't get to the Therm-App Pro page

Then I looked at their normal cameras- and i don't see anything right now except a newer 'white' model,
the Therm-App MD(geared towards catching people with elevated temps), which appears to have the specs of a normal 9 hz Therm App, but with a software board also included- which I don't understand. -

Anyway, does anyone know what's up? I know Thermal Camera companies are swamped with orders and demand due to COVID, but - someday when I've saved up enough(or they do another good black friday sale...)- I want to snag a Pro- as I don't see anywhere else in the world where one can buy a 640X 480 thermal camera for under 4 grand(Seek and FLIR aren't doing much, I'm still waiting for Seek's automotive thermal camera heck)

Maybe the website was down? I found this page:
https://www.opgal.com/android-thermal-cameras/
There you also can find the Therm-App Pro

INdeed! But once you click into it a little- as if you were interested in buying the pro or any of their cameras, like pressing the buy now button on any of their cameras such as

https://www.opgal.com/products/therm-app-pro/

, it seems to stop? Which is why I'm i figured something is up with the product line...

Yes, Fraser remembers correctly. I had an email discussion with Opgal a while ago.

The MD version is basically a TH in new clothes, accompanied by an Android computer in  box, which you use in place of a phone. Their PDF brochure is here.

I got in touch with their US distributor. The Pro is now $4000 plus $60 shipping from Israel. The 35mm lens add-on is an additional $800.

Wish I’d gotten one when Opgal was still selling direct!

Alas, that is def more than $3500.

I was curious, was this Vumii?

And , are there other vendors that carry the Pro and 35 that are selling them? (I would hope so, or do US sales have to be out of the US vendor now with the move of the products?)

on another note
I am hoping these are still in production also, as it'd suck if they stopped- as it doesn't seem there's an alternative to these mid-grade cameras, that someone in the US could buy - and FLIR and SEEK haven't made a core that competes..

Hi, I work for Opgal and managed the Therm-App cameras last year.

Due to a shift in business priorities, we are not currently selling the Therm-App models.

The Therm-App MD is being developed and sold as a device to measure skin temperature. It's not the same as the TH as it's calibrated to be more accurate within a smaller temperature range (25-45 degrees C).

If there is an interest in buying the Therm-App Pro, we may still have some to sell. Please message me privately and I'll send you my contact details.

I purchased a Therm-App TH for my job a few years ago. I've been relatively happy, but I am disappointed to see that it has been dropped as a product line. It wasn't cheap, and the software could use some work. I guess nothing further will be happening here.
