I will change the Tantalum's regardless. Do you know if the Milspec tantalums are worth the money - if I can source them, that is.
The main choice is between 'regular' and 'surge' rated tants, plus do not skimp on voltage ratings.
Any connected to input power that suddenly appears, need to be surge rated. Classically that was AVX TPS series, but everyone does a similar type.
Basic AVX TAJ on a power in will go bang (like Raytheon BST cores.... oops).
Those on switch mode power supplies should be low series resistance, and again tend to be the TPS surge types for that reason alone, although these days big ceramics are often used.
