Seek Thermal App Location Permissions Change

I've just noticed that the Seek Thermal app on Android now seems to require the user grants the location permission with the "Allow all the time" modifier not only that but it is occasionally getting the user location when the app UX is not running. This seems curious and bad  . It is fairly easy to work around if you want to download an old version of the APK but it's definitely concerning that they appear to be doing something with this data. Are other people seeing this behaviour?

Which version of the apk?  I finally got a stupidphone a couple months ago (T-Mobile branded LG K331/Aristo5) & have version 2.3.0 installed.  I was surprised that it did not ask me to make an account & only lists a few permissions.  I denied location.  Not sure what it means about the other capabilities that do not have the option to grant or deny permission...
