T540 vs T640 Detector size
« on: May 25, 2019, 12:28:58 pm »
Does the T540 and T640 have the same detectors? I like the T540's updated UI and LCD. And it seems like its got a better microprocessor since everything is a lot quicker on the new T5xx and Exx models. I just wish it was 640x480.

AFAIK the T540 is a T440 in an updated body, with the older 320x240 sensor.
The Ex5 series has the 640x480 sensor despite never using all of it.

Interesting I assumed the T5xx and Exx Had the same sensors since they share the same lenses? Both the E95 and the T540 has this weird 464 × 348 resolution. Im assuming its downsampled like the E4?

Ah, I must be wrong then.
464x348 indicates that it's the high end 640x480 sensor, crippled in firmware. Probably hackable.

That would be amazing if i could hack it. 640x480 on this would be perfect as it would replace the t6xx series. Also the T5xx series has a macro mode available that lets u have a close up lens view down to 71um. Which is great for pcb inspection

Spoke FLIR about this, as I just assumed it was a top end detector restricted down. Apparently this isn't the case as it's to do with the optics as well. They are releasing a new sensor for 640x480 soon, which will then be in the newer model T5xx and T8xx cameras, so 640x480 will then be possible in this new form factor.
