Flir One IOS App with full Lepton sensor resolution 160x120
« on: December 16, 2016, 11:56:30 pm »
Georg rewrote the nice Android App Thermal Camera+ for Iphone users.
see Android version: https://www.eevblog.com/forum/thermal-imaging/flir-one-android-app-with-full-lepton-sensor-resolution/

After a hard and long way through Flir and Apple certifications process the Iphone App has the same feature like the Android version:
- full Lepton sensor resolution with more details and field of view
- deactivate MSX
- more colorful palettes
- embedded denoise and superresolution algorithm for clearly thermal images

link to itunes:
https://itunes.apple.com/us/app/thermal-camera+-for-flir-one/id1175785200?mt=8

manual:
http://thermcam.binaryblogger.de/manualI/index.html

Please post your comments (ore bug reports) here, so Georg can improve his app.

Thank you very much!!!

I've purchased the App a few Minutes ago and its freaking awesome! I mean 2€ is absolutly bang for the buck and I dont except that it will be for free, because its hard to write someting like that in XCODE!

edit: it would be nice when you can record videos in the irongrey mode  :o

Just purchased the app only to realise it doesn't work well on an iPad;
 - the buttons are misplaced and not scaled correctly,
 - it didn't appear to support auto-rotation of the screen when rotating the iPad (I hold it upside down to have the FlirONE on the top),
 - it crashed a few times

Would love to see an update to support these larger resolution idevices :)
Thank you!

Hi trcm,

I know about the formatting problem on the iPad. I wanted to finally release the version for iOS and cut short on some features like min/max arrows, a inverse portrait mode or the iPad format. But I'll implement them in the next update.

I've a lock span feature implemented. Take a look at the "Palette Locker" below:

The Ipad layout is fixed in the current version.

George, thanks for the updated release with iPad support, it's really good!
Can we iOS users hope for 'Super Resolution' mode too like the Android version?

Many thanks, Tom

Haven't you noticed that the Super Resolution is integrated? :)

Move the camera and stop at an edge. Than you see a after some frames how the Super Resolution algorithm is working.
I have both F1 (for Android and IOS).
The IOS version of Thermal Camera+ looks great, because there is a (slightly) better denoise algorithm combined with Super Resolution.

George by chance have you setup a donation site?  $1.99 is very inexpensive compared to how well the application works and the image quality.  I would like to give more than $2.

Many thanks NathanFowler. I indeed did, you can now give me a small donation through the manual page.

And again, thanks for liking the app so much.

Hi Tomas, I was looking for the green icon like in the Android version, I hadn't noticed that it was working automatically!!

Here's some comparison images between the Flir app and Thermal Camera+ with MSX on and off.  I tried to keep the phone still between apps.

Your image gallery is difficult to compare because of different image size.
I requested Georg to reduce the image size to useful 50% of 1000x1280 while the next update.
Also there are some noisy images with a small temperature range. The NETD of the small Lepton sensor is not the best :( and some thermal subjects haven't sharp edges.

My favorite is the dog.
I reduced Georgs image to the same size of the Flir image.
See the different field of view ;-)

Georg, as a high school student, needs some ratings for his first iTunes Store app "Thermal Camera+ For Flir ONE".
If your are satisfied, then rate the app inside the iTunes Store   ;)

I had written a five start review for the first version but it seems Apple may be sitting on it a bit.

I using TC+ app, but can't save image in phone memory. App works like read-only.
Any suggestions what to do to save images?

Hi Zelma,

Did you activated the camera roll and file access in the privacy settings?

First off kudos for the iOS version, much appreciated - instant purchase :)

So i put the app to the test to prove the points raised in this as well as the android app thread, namely the improved FOV, the SuperResolution and here are some early results. I'll let you be the judge, comments are of course welcome below.

Order of images:

a. FlirOne app w/ MSX
b. TC+ w/ MSX
c. TC+ w/ MSX outlining the additional FOV
d. TC+

Hi thank you RTouris,

Those images a pretty great. I really appreciate that you took your time to create the one with the FOV comparison.
Could I use it in my store pages inside the screenshot section?
