FLIR Lepton Breakout v1.3 Problems
« on: December 24, 2019, 02:17:48 am »
Several years ago I bought a FLIR Lepton with the v1.3 breakout board from GroupGets.  I'm finally getting around to trying to use it and I can't get the video data out of it.  I've been using the documentation from https://groupgets.com/manufacturers/getlab/products/flir-lepton-breakout-board-v1-4 and it seems like I should just be able to turn it on and read the video data via SPI.  I am able to communicate with it via I2C and get things like the ambient temperature, which seems correct.

When I read via SPI I get what seems to be garbage data.  The ID isn't the packet ID and the CRC field doesn't have the correct CRC.  The data doesn't seem to be entirely random, but I can't make sense of it.  The problem may be that the documentation I'm using doesn't match the board, but I can't find anything about the v1.3 board and sensor that came with it.  Some of the commands listed in the documentation don't work, like getting the video output format so I think the module I have predates the documentation.

Has anyone here successfully used this module or does anyone have any ideas about why it might not be working?  I've attached a sample of the data read from the camera.

Hey, I use this very module with my teensy as a simple imager, works like a charm. Make sure your clock phase and polarity are set correctly and you are allowing for the required startup and delay times, that bit me before
