buying aga thermovision 680 LW
« on: December 06, 2017, 06:49:35 pm »
hi guys
i'm looking for a aga thermovision 680 camera scanner.  the one designed for LW especially.
i got a flir pm695 camera and i'm looking to use aga's optics to try design a NETD enhancer, but i miss the aga XD

i recently bought a aga 680 wich is the medical version and it does work at MW.  altough it is good for a MW sensor i have,  i was hoping to find something for the LW camera.
thanks guys, whoever answers to me ^^

I have a 680 camera alone, it was a less than 50 euros eBay find, with a lens, I could not let it go, purely for collection (hoarding ?)  purpose. But I was never able to find the matching controller / display box. Are these ancient beasts still actually used in a professionnal environment somewhere ? Sourcing the liquid nitrogen as an individual hobbyist is a little difficult, also.

Alone the lenses are worth a lot... Nice find. Makes me jealous.

The 680's controller is huge - if I recall, it weighed over 15 kilos and was the size of a large oscilloscope(which is almost what it was).
It's unlikely you'll find one, and definitely not the cable. The lenses are good though.

I bought a 680 Thermal camera that came with the microscope lens block. That is to say, it is a thermal microscope 🙂

These cameras contain a large amount of quite valuable Germanium, beyond that found in the lenses. The two rotating prisms are Solid Germanium.

I have the controller to camera umbilical cable if anyone ever needs it. Rare as hens teeth theses days.
