rigol mso5074 vs Siglent SDS2104X Plus
« on: November 04, 2022, 03:27:19 pm »
Hi eevblog forum

I am going for a new scope, and I have looked at these models:

Rigol mso5074
Siglent SDS2104X Plus

I am in the lucky situation I actually can get them at about the same price point plus/minus some (minimal difference) with original logic probes.
I am leaning leaning towards the Siglent SDS2104X Plus since I have read much good about it. I am mainly doing analog work, so the lower noise front end seems very appealing. I do however also do digital work so that is why I am not considering the new HDO1000 series from rigol.
I know there has been more threads about this, unfortunately many of them went into some kind of fight.
So my question is in summarize if I can get them at the same price will the Siglent SDS2104X Plus be the better choice, for my applications (mainly analog work)?

Easy decision.

Yeah, I just went thorough this too.  The Siglent won pretty easily especially with the current promotion.

Of course you could opt of a Keysight 2000 series scope.  You can then join the elitists herein with 1/2 the scope for 3 times the price and be rewarded with an official company policy of no support.  But it will have Keysight written on it!! :-+  :-DD

I might be biased since I just received a SDS2104XPlus (still sitting in the box), but I summarized it for me a few month ago, and now with the price reduction/promotion it was a no brainer for me and I pulled the trigger.

Yes, unfortunately.

Anyhow, yes, like others say, the Siglent 2K+ is the way to go if you mainly do analog. Another option would be the RTB2000 (10 bit) if you can find it discounted (regular prices are almost 2X the Siglent).

For the same price? Get the Siglent.

There's no fight if they cost the same.

Is the Siglent very cheap where you live or is the Rigol very expensive?

No contest, SDS2000X Plus has a 10 bit mode valid to 100 MHz. RTFM/datasheet.  ;)

Didn't mean to imply the 2K+ is NOT 10-bit. It was to be intended as "the RTB2K is 10-bit as well, contrarily to the Rigol".

Yea, like others have said, the SDS2000X Plus is really nice for analog, and hackable to 500MHz (with 2 channels on), no brainer imo.

Actually, from where I live, both the Siglent (SDS2074X plus) and the Rigol cost around 900USD.
