Siglent SDM3065X Multimeter won't boot.
« on: June 10, 2024, 04:22:43 am »
Hello!
I hope this is the right place to post this. I bought a Siglent SDM3065X in September of 2020. I had to put it away for a while. It was sitting upright (on its back "feet") on the floor behind a desk. Out of the way. Recently it was time to put it back to work. It gets to the initial boot splash screen and doesn't go any farther into the boot process. It has not been hacked or modded in any way. It just sat back there and collected a little dust. I have searched online for a way to do a reset, but it has to be running to do so. I can't find any factory reset from boot. I wanted to in the hope that maybe some out-of-range data is hanging it.
I can't afford to send it in for repair in the foreseeable future.
Any ideas?
Any help appreciated!

Have you tried unplugging the usb flash drive, if you have one installed.

I believe you can hold down one of the buttons during power on to force a reset, I could be remembering that wrong though, it isn’t something I’ve had to do.

Might also be worth checking that the usb port didn’t have anything drop into it and short out the connections.

It's a boot freeze.
Pop me a PM with your email and we'll fix it up and get the latest firmware in it.

I'm not pushing you. I know you are probably busy. That wasn't my first post, but it was my first PM. Just checking to see that you received it.
Thanks.

Did it ever work?

I had a similar “problem” with a Chinese signal generator (different brand though) bought from a reputable US dealer, a few years ago. Out of the box, it wouldn’t go through the booting sequence (stuck on some splash screen). Switching the voltage selector to 110Vac (from 220Vac) solved the problem :)

Good point.

Siglent HQ operates at ~220VAC where for this part of the world (NZ) is near enough to our 230VAC.
A while back a US member said he'd got a discarded Siglent product cheap and changed it to 110VAC and it worked just fine.  :)

" Nothing at all." Very funny!  :-DD

Thank you very much! The fix fixed it and the updater updated it.

I couldn't find any of my 8GB flash drives, so I bought one from Amazon. Ordered Last night, came today! Probably for the best because any 8GB flash drive I've lost is probably 10 years minimum. Had to reformat to 4K from 16K clusters, but no big deal.

Thanks again!

Had this same issue today, 3065X would not go past boot screen.  Like the OP, this was after a long period (months?) of not being powered on.

Contacted Rob / Tautech, and he had me all fixed up super fast!!!  Now booted up and have updated to the latest firmware, everything looking good.

So, a big shout out and THANK YOU to Rob!  Absolutely fantastic to have him here helping us out!
