Fluke 17B Knock-off, the Aimometer MS8217
« on: March 17, 2016, 01:07:35 pm »

Came across this while browsing some other stuff. This is a knock-off with possibly a knock-off model number. The model number would lead you to believe that it is a Mastech MS8217, it might be but there are some significant differences between the Mastech and the Aimometer. All of these differences have been made to make the Aimometer look MORE like the Fluke 17B, this of course is assuming it is based on the Mastech MS8217 at all.

The most interesting thing is that the 10A range fusing situation is quite special.  :-DD They took the time to buy a fit a ceramic fuse, but strangely enough it is not in series with the shunt. The shunt, well shunts, directly between the 10A input and the common. The fuse appears to be on the line going to the IC! |O
The very existence of flamethrowers proves that some time, somewhere, someone said to themselves, "You know, I want to set those people over there on fire, but I'm just not close enough to get the job done." -George Carlin
