I got a few new oscilloscope probes from Probe master and on the switchable x10/1x probe there is a switch position that says R. What is the R for and how is the probe/scope used when in the R position?

In the R position, the probe signal line is connected to ground so that you can see where 0 volts is on your scope's display. R is reference. Might make more sense to label it G for ground. But not a big deal once you know.
