I was measuring some 12V stuff with the 10A range, just should be < 4Amp.
Then changed to measure volts. Since then AErr on all switch setting, except the A.
Switch on/off. Battery disconnect-reconnect. Persistent error, PIA when on the road,
thought this was my most reliable meter, fairly new.
So the A range has a probe detect switch in the socket. Ok,i'm using my own much shorter
leads for the amp tests.
Disassembled the meter, probe socket board. test the A socket, and continuity seems ok,
probe in, switch closed, probe out, switch open. Looks the same whether i use Keysight lead,
or my own.
Maybe leakage on pcb?, there's a series resistor of 2.5M to the switch. cleaned around with iso-p
No change still AErr,except A range.
I'm a bit stumped about that....
So I ended up desoldering the 2pin socket connecting the A socket switch to the PCB.
The meter works on all ranges now same as before. Except now i'm not going to have
the probe detection in the A socket.
Well i don't recall failing myself with 10amp ranges on other meters, so i think i'll
be happy with just continuing my care with testing high current, as always.
Any other thoughts?
