Siglent SDS1104X-E Keyboard Mapping Issue
« on: March 28, 2021, 12:40:47 am »
Hello all!

This is my first post here, so bear with me. I have searched this forum far and wide and have so far found no one with a similar issue reported.

I received a Siglent SDS1104X-E in the mail today. Opened it up and got it set up according to the quick start guide and everything was fine. I tried to check out the cursor functionality by pressing the appropriate "Cursor" cursor button, however, the Channel 2 button lit up. Odd. I pressed the "Cursor" button again, and the Channel 2 button turned off. At no point did the cursors show up on screen, nor did the cursor menu appear above the soft buttons. Pressing the "Measure" button selects/unselects Channel 3 in the same way without showing the measurement menu. Pressing the "Navigate" button enables/disables Channel 4 in the exact same way. None of these buttons fulfil their intended functions. I have also discovered that the "Adjust" encoder is not working; turning it to either side has no effect on multi-menu items. The first soft button is also not working to select the first item in the menu, instead, it acts as the "Menu On/Off" button (the Menu On/Off button, by the way, works as intended... I just don't need two of them). I have also noticed that none of the rotary encoders are working as intended. For example, the vertical position knob changes the v/div.

I managed to get the remote web interface working, and through this interface, tested all of the functionality of the buttons that aren't working. I was able to see/move cursors, get measurements to show up, etc. Event the web version of the rotary encoders works as intended. This leads me to believe that, somehow, the key bindings have been completely messed up. Is there any way I can fix this?

Firmware version reported under Utilities is 6.1.35R2.
U-Boot version is 8.1
FPGA Version is 2019-11-15
Hardware Version 01-05

Anyway, I'm really bummed. I'm not sure if I did something wrong or if there is some way to fix this. Perhaps I need to return the unit? Has anyone else encountered and been able to fix this issue?

Thank you,
Async

Welcome to the forum.

If after pressing Default if the scope still behaves in this crazy/broken manner send it back for a replacement under warranty....it's for 3 years so use it !
There's an old saying: It's dead Jim !

So have it replaced.....don't even muck with it just send it back and if necessary add a link back to this thread for a description of its faults.

There is also keyboard test and led test.
When you do it, look carefully what you push and what display claim you have pushed.
Also encoders.

This do not mean I do not believe it is failed. Your explanation tell it is quite sure broken and need return. It looks like very clear DOA. (Dead On Arrival)

But just if interest this test can also do.

EV of course. Cars with smoke exhaust pipes - go to museum. In Finland quite all electric power is made using nuclear, wind, solar and water.

Wises must compel the mad barbarians to stop their crimes against humanity. Where have the (strong)wises gone?

Oh wow. So doing that test, none of the encoders work correctly. I also discovered that the "Digital" button acts as Ch 1 select/unselect. That is a good tip, thank you.

I've just started the replacement process (through Siglent's Amazon store). I just hope Siglent is able to service this one before it is re-sold. Hopefully the replacement is good to go out of the box.
