I am due to commence employment in the Electronic Engineering field later this year, in the Republic of Ireland. I'm aware that there is a significant history of electronics manufacturing there (IBM in Dublin, DEC in Galway, Apple in Cork, Intel and others elsewhere). So, when I was browsing listings for AVO Model 8s on ebay, I got to thinking that surely some enterprise at some point has manufactured a multimeter here. Are there any?

Those big name companies set up plants in RoI because of incentives by the Irish government which wanted to create large numbers of jobs. I'm far from convinced the market for meters would have required enough employees to get the idea through a first stage assessment.
