I didn't see any topic in the search related to these power supplies, so I thought we can discuss this.
Recently I was doing some experiments with single wires and magnetic forces. My current Power Supply can only deliver 10 Amps though. So the magnetic field I got was kinda low for what I was expecting. Since I've always the guy who screams "MORE POWER" at any issues, I decided to get a Power Supply which is in the KiloWatt range. So, since the fuses I got in my household can handle 3680 Watts, I thought I should get something close to that. Of course if you look at the common felons like Keysight, Rigol or anything else it get's pretty expensive. Eventhough, Keysight mentioned in one of their pdfs that their Power Supplies are affordable (well, I can't afford those, like 6000 USD).
Anyway ... When things are getting too expensive the first thing to do is to look at India (well, not developed enough in electronics yet), then look at China and then look at everything else. Since India is already out, China is probably the best option.
Since Chinesium is a quantum material which exists in multiple states at once(Superior or Inferior quality) it's always important to check in which state a product is
Therefore I'd like to introduce the KPS-Series of Wanptek: https://wanptek.com/productinfo/1066.html Now, to what I need from this Power Supply:
- No audio equipment or anything else which requires low noise
- Melting wires
- Lot's of sparks
- Capability to power a 5V Micro Controller
- Lots of current
I think it can handle all of those. But in general, I'd like to know a bit more about it. Since I'm not an electrical engineer, I've got a couple of questions:
- I'd like to know in ELI5 terms how accurate it is
- I'd like a general opinion (if it exists) on Wanptek supplies
- I'd like to know about safety considerations.
- 30V, 100A seems to be a welder that can blind my eyes?
- 60V, 50A seems to be close to what can be a lethal DC voltage?
- 120, 25A should be a lethal DC voltage?
• I think having a 3kW Power Supply connected to the same fuse as my 1kW Power Supply PC might be troublesome with the 3.6kW fuse I got, right?
So ... what do you guys think?
Can you help me with my questions? I'd really appreciate it
