Keithley 7002 Switch System Teardown
« on: February 09, 2016, 07:36:25 am »
Hello.
I recently got a Keithley 7002 in order to source a LCD for my Keithley 2001 -- they share the same display. A new display board from Tektronix costs $417 + Shipping + Tax where the 7002 ran me $50 + $25 shipping ( It's a heavy beast @20lbs ).
The Keythley 7002 is a switching & control system designed to operate in conjunction with other test gear. It can switch DC voltage & DC current.

Let's see what we get for a MSRP of $5,020

Instrument front panel - the LEDs indicate channel status ON/OFF

Construction is good, product feels solid

Back of unit, support for 10 slot cards vs only 2 in the 7001

Not much inside the unit -- most is empty space

Power supplies were covered with a thin plastic sheet inside the enclosure

Mains routed from one side of digital board to the other( tho it would have lots of room to stay away from the digital logic ). Also board quality seems too high for what would be needed.

Seems to have same components as the DC-DC converter in the Keithley 2001, but different layout

Hope you enjoyed!
