Velleman DVM9912 Teardown
« on: June 30, 2015, 01:34:48 am »
Hello there. I've considered shipping dave a Velleman DVM9912 for a teardown, but I don't have 100$ + shipping to spend on that. Therefor I decided to take it appart myself, and try and take some proper pictures with whatever lighting I have.

First of all, the specs of the meter: http://www.velleman.eu/products/view/?country=be&lang=en&id=368124

I'm not entirely sure what more to write, so I will link in an album that I posted on imgur, as I prefer that for image hosting. Do note that most pictures will have a small description under them.

EDIT: And a note on the lack of background lighting of the LCD, I can't seem to find any Velleman DVMs that use that PCB, which has the backlight. Velleman is a reseller of other OEMs though, so the original OEM might have a different version that Velleman decided not to rebrand and sell.

Thanks for the teardown. It is always nice to get a mini review with a teardown.

Thanks for taking the pictures and sharing.

CEM Instruments is the original OEM for this multimeter.

In a CEM multimeter I expected some better fuses for .  :-- :--
But for low voltage bench use it might be OK.

But the construction is definitely better than my own UNI-T UT70A.

That is certainly my major gripe with this meter :/
