uCurrent Gold Availability
« on: September 01, 2019, 11:28:17 pm »
After seeing the video on it long ago, I'm finally in a situation where I could have used something like the uCurrent, but it's not available. Anyone know if/when they will return?

I know there is a guy who sells the "tinycurrent" clone, but dammit I would take the Dave Jones original if I had the choice.

I could build one myself from the published gerbers and BOM.

Can anybody told me what is unique for uCurrent?
The small burden voltage at 0.01Ohm shunt, isnt it?
But new cheap multimeters like aneng AN8009 reads mA at the same 0.01 shunt
Any ideas?  :-//

You may want to compare the ranges and the resolution when using the AN8009 and the uCurrent.

How do I connect the AN8009 to my scope?  ;)

Exactly this.

Getting ballpark steady state microamps with my multimeter isn't a problem, but the project I have is a microcontroller that sleeps most of the time, then briefly wakes up and send an RF packet. A scope would give a decent picture of what's going on during that brief period of high power consumption.

I was in the same situation, and while it costs a bit more, I picked up a Current Ranger instead.

I picked up a Current Ranger as well and I like it a lot. The creator was super helpful on Discord as well. :)

Are there supply issues currently? Because the german distributor, from which i ordered in October, cant deliver one currently. They say they are starting their own production runs in the near future.
