UNI-T UT8803N USB Interface??
« on: July 05, 2022, 01:03:30 pm »
Has anyone on here been successful with the USB Interface of the Uni-T UT8803?

For me, it seems to install a generic "Universal Test and Measurement" driver and will not allow the driver suggested by the UTI-T programmer's manual.  After a lot of screwing around, I could NOT see my Siglent USB gear and went back to an older restore point to fix that.

By "see" i mean in the Keysight Connection Expert software that easily sees all my USB and GPIB gear.

I liked the 8803N because of the large display and also as a side of trying to use it as an A/D converter, more or less, its limited resolution is more than fine for what I attempted to use it for.  For now, it is basically replacing a Fluke 37, which although cool, is just too old to be of much use (I was just using it as a Variac output monitor on the bench).  The UNI-T will now assume that role but with a much nicer display.  It would be nice to be able to get data from it through the USB port, but not necessary as I use an Agilent 34401 for that.

I know it's been a year since you asked that question but I'd like to answer for future reference.

The UT8803 (N/E) does not have SCPI capabilities. That is probably the reason why it doesn't show up in Keysight Connection Expert.

However, the device has a usb interface that uses a proprietary protocol. I own a UT8803E and have reverse engineered the protocol and written a program to talk to it. You can find it here:
