Rhodes & Schwarz RF Attenuator RSG
« on: June 30, 2020, 10:53:12 pm »
I can not find a programmers or user manual for the old R&S RSG attenuator.  I'm trying to use the RSC (much more modern) as a guide but it is not exact.

I figured out that to program the attenuation, use: ATT 20   ... or whatever value is needed.

There are probably other commands like the frequency, which I do not understand why an attenuator would need.  I guess it's to limit it's upper end.   A user manual would be nice.  R&S only has the specifications on their site and not the user manual.

I need to write some software now to test this to make sure it is good.  These R&S RSGs do tend to be blown easily.  A technical or service manual would be nice too.

Specifying the frequency may improve the accuracy of the instrument.  Perhaps the device employs an internal calibration table (initialized during calibration) whose contents are incorporated when setting the attenuation value.  I have used some power sensors which use this approach to improve their accuracy.
