I'd like to hear your opinion on buying 2nd hand isolation transformers.
What about security risks due to e.g. overcurrent use by the 1st owner?
Say, an idling transformer might measure fine but then fail when running with in spec high current, because of some inside isolation fault.

Just your opinion, no liable advice. I'll decide on my own, when and how to die.   :-DD

Talk about topical ....

Just had a segment on the nightly news about the current heatwave through Europe and Britain.

Hitting the 40's is bad enough when you're used to it - but it's going to be dire for those who aren't.

The hobbits had the right idea ... underground.
Low 40's in Perth at Xmas is magical....no need to do anything to work up a thirst.  >:D hic
The only hard bit is the 30C overnight  :phew: and walking into high 30's exiting the airport terminal....hits you a bit like a freight train !

Is she really a he? You gotta ask that question now a days because you never know.  :o

Ask Toyah that and I suspect you're likely to wake up with a crowd around you.  :-DD If you haven't seen it, you should watch Derek Jarman's "Jubilee", in which Toyah does a particularly psychotic turn as the character "Mads".

Definitely a she. And completely bananas.

More than bananas. I think perhaps the full fruit bowl.

Toyah's 63, Bob 76, which is proof (as if it was needed) that just because you're old doesn't mean that you have to be a boring old fart.
well she is certainly very fit for 63 years old, still has what it takes to turn heads  ;)

I try and break the law at least once a day.

it's your patriotic duty as an Englishman to resist all that Norman and Roman rubbish!  :)

Can a damned yankee dwagon from New England join this resistance...? I know y'all have bad history with the last Connecticut Yankee what meddled on your side of the pond...  :o

mnem

Yes of course you can, just as long as you don't go round belching out fire and burning everything  :-DD :-DD

If you buy one and it looks OK and checks out, it probably is OK. If you are that worried about it, just buy a new high quality one with the proper certifications.

Some people I've come across absolutely refuse to use those mains test screwdrivers with a neon. They say all that's between you and a potentially fatal shock is a resistor that's probably a floor sweeping.

I can't say I've ever heard of anyone being killed or injured by either of these things. Compressors for car suspension springs are a different story.

Ah summer is needed to identify the mental people so you can distrust them  >:D

“I really love this weather” … add them to the list.

“Want to go for a run today?” … add them to the list.

“Oh I prefer Morocco heat” … add them to the list.

“G’day” … add them to the list.
:wtf:
We're all on this fucking list !
I don't see Kiwi's on the list, but I think you can still make the list if you want to  :-DD

I have a second-hand one, and I'm still around some 5 years after the purchase, go for it, you can always test the isolation for yourself.

I've bought a Grundig RT5A some years ago which survived a drop from the shelf (previous owner).
Needed to replace the instrument for the Voltage (the upper one) but since then it worked fine for me.

Maximum temperature predicted in Stockholm today: a refreshing 22°C. :D

In our Summers, we'd bump the Aircond temp up a degree or so above that, as we would start to shiver!

When I was a kid in the 1950s, anywhere that had Airconditioning would wind the temp down to near Arctic, just to show they could.
One "Movie Theatrette" was particularly savage in this.

People "in the know" who were sweltering at 38C plus outside would hurriedly pull on wooly jumpers (pullovers) & jackets in the foyer before entering.

Many years after that, I  encountered its mirror image, when, in the UK, "rugged up to the eyes", I entered a Department store, which was heated to Oz Summer temperature levels.

we are fucking doomed.
That's about it, it's like, at least in the UK, it is not illegal for someone to park their car on your driveway, but it is illegal for you to remove it or damage it in any way  :wtf:

We should be weary of law enforcement systems that implement violence spirals. It is a potentially oscillating feedback loop.

desperately trying to at least sound on-topic

We should also be wary of any system that prioritizes punitive action over constructive action. So much of modern society seems to be drifting barreling down the tracks like a runaway locomotive towards the former...

mnem
I am quite weary of all of it...
