If your laptop was made in the last 6 years, I'd suggest putting it on fleaBay as "upgraded FW, now won't boot", then sit back and and watch the feeding frenzy. They goin' cray-cray.

Exactly what I decided.. After I pull the SSD.

Holy Moly. Listed for 10 minutes, 2 people already PM'ing me to buy it now.

Yay. Just won an auction on an National Instruments ISA GPIB-PCII / IIA card.
No-one else bid so I got it for 500yen (US$4) plus the same in shipping.  8)

I already got one, but I couldn't pass this one up. They are a required item for calibrating TDS500/600/700 series scopes, so rather useful if that's your kink.  :-BROKE  ;D
Where does all this test equipment keep coming from?!?

Right the time has come. All planets aligned, minor gods in agreement and Murphy appears to be on holiday. Weirdly and suspiciously earlier than scheduled. Disappearing for a bit almost immediately after returning. Shovelling of boxes and crap begins. See you on the other side, or on this side again if it goes to shit for the Nth time  :scared:

Will be on discord still at weekends but not on the forum until sorted.
Well... I don't wanna jinx you by wishing you luck, so I'll just reiterate our customary brotherhood-of-the-damned benevolent curse:

"Fuck off & die!"  :-DD

:wtf: USPS is about as useless as tits on a bull. Their system is down so I couldn't get package mailed to Saskia. Estimated up time? Who the fuck knows. Clerk uttered their famous and overused word. "Sorry". Yep, bunch of sorry sad sacks.

I'll try again this afternoon. I should charge them for gas. Wish me luck.  |O

For the same reason I have been eying on one over here. It's been up for sale for over 6 months now, mid-october last year, but he wants 60 Euros for it so... no.
I already have an ISA one, but can't remember if it was a genuine NI one or not. I have no idea where that card is since I have not unpacked everything just yet, so I thought well lets get this one so at leas tI know I have none genuine NI in stock. But at 60 Euros / USD+ , it's too much to ask. So I have a browser tab opened with this ad permanently and I refresh it every day in case one day he might lower the price quite a bit, but so far he has not. So... I just keep watching  :-//

Mole grip references
www.screwfix.com/c/tools/pliers-cutters/cat831008?plierscuttersproducttype=locking_pliers
www.stanleytools.co.uk/products/sub5/Products/HAND+TOOLS/Pliers+_+Snips/Pliers/Mole+grip+pliers
It's a British thing. The original UK maker was  M K Mole and Son.
Well, looks like the locking pliers had been invented in the US, and called originally Vise-Grip; I think this will settle the name.

Got some time to squeeze a quick TE post in... now with new improved non-smartphone photos!

Fluke 75 arrived. Works fine. Battery was a little scary but hadn't exploded . Depicted. Cleaned it quick and chucked it in a box. Came with a box and probes and a random screwdriver which I have disposed of because they are shit. £25 well spent!

Outside, not too bad:

Inside, pretty good. New GP ultra in there. Needs a brush out but I don't have the time now.

Scary battery - check the best before date:

Anyway, back to organising shit  >:(

More Type 547 re-cap.

This round C671 and C701.

Both cans are buried way back on the PSU chassis. No room under chassis to install replacements. To make the work somewhat easier left C671 in place and removed C701. Doubled up the replacement caps on one terminal strip. C671 was 300uf/250V. Now 330uf/250V. C701 was 200uf/400V. Now 220uf/400v.

C701 removed.

Way in back behind that 6080 regulator tube.

And as usual. A test power up to insure all is OK.  :-+

There are 4 more capacitors left to do. C771 and C773A/B/C. All of them are additional filtering/decoupling for the vertical plug-in.

US 1 505 $
Geez, what a price.

I'm not at all sure that the price is real.

When I edited the message bidding was already ended and I'm pretty sure the count was 130, now it's 131.
I also have a recollection of that sum in similar situation and more than once.

They are leaving the outcome visible for ever.
Maybe they just don't like uninterested items.

Bon chance mon ami. Try not to fall in the river. BTW, you didn't say which borough your new luxury riverside apartment was in i.e. quite how much more central you really are moving to.

Still fucking Hounslow  :-DD

Juggling paperwork and stuff now. Not 100% sure on this one yet.

Is there room for small end cutters?

I think there might be, especially fruitfully so if I can get rid of the old plastic frame first.

[EU] Anyone here got a spare external SFF-8088 bracket that internally connects to SFF-8087? My SAS-Controller has two internal SFF-8087 connectors, but I got an additional external drive to connect with SFF-8088 cable. Before I order at Ali...

Fun fact: A DELL labeled LSI controller (SAS2008 PCIx Fusion-MPT) put into a DELL OptiPlex 780 computer will disable the whole computer: No beep, no Display, no BIOS messages: Nothing, Nada, Zero.

Today arrival: lots of capacitors. Special capacitors from the early 70's, made by Siemens.

What's so special about them?

- they are Styroflex types
- they are precision ones (1% and 2% tolerance)
- they are shielded

Never saw before shielded Styroflex capacitors. Probably that's why I've bought them.  :palm:  :-DD

Here are some pictures:

seven values, all 63V DC

detailed view of one with date code 11 71. They are all from that time (1971 - 1973)

Siemens label of one of them

If you are interested in getting one or two per value (from the 8870pF ones I have only nine) drop me a PM.
