I'm preparing a talk where I kindly explain I can do stuff with electricity no forensic scientist is ever going to figure out.
Will you be providing hand-outs?   >:D
No, most likely live demonstrations...

mnem
"Great SICK minds think alike."

Daughter:- "So where are we going?"

Suitor:- "Why don't we stay here, so your Dad can show us the cool stuff he does?"

Later:-

Daughter:- "I broke up with Freddy".

Mum:- " Why?--- "He seemed so nice, & was so interested in your Father's Electronics & stuff."

Daughter:- "That's why!!"

The UK housing market is completely dysfunctional.

Daughter is getting a no-fault eviction in September; she stands zero chance of getting somewhere to live:
  • self-employed: lenders say no proof of earnings
  • has dog: landlords say no
  • is single and employed: councils say not a priority

"Fortunately" her (beloved) grandmother died and I'm in a position to allow her inheritance to skip a generation (assuming the house sale completes). Talk about the nick of time.

Yeah similar situation. Just basically have to put down one year of rent up front, in my case £24k  :scared:

Daughter reckons landlords think that implies you are going to be absent, and will turn the property into a greenhouse full of funny purple lights.

That is a favourite activity amongst the criminal fraternity in Oz, definitely safer, if less profitable, than the old "Meth lab in the kitchen" alternative.
Apropos the latter, there are, several times a year, News reports of houses "bursting into flames", & the tenants or owners being "unavailable for comment"!

Maybe you missed the part where my daughter is global developmental delay/high functioning autistic. I know I've mentioned it before.

No, I know that. You've mentioned it.

I have a better than average understanding how easily she could be taken advantage of; I know how easily I was manipulated when I was younger, and I know she will be much more gullible for many more years to come than I was. I am doing all I know how to prepare her for life anyways, but I will still watch out for her, and I hope that when I'm gone her big brother will continue to do so in my place.

She is gonna need it; every aspect of her life is going to take that much longer to develop than it does for the rest of us.

If I explain from which angle I'm coming, it might be clearer, even if it's not something you agree even partially with:

Our eldest is a prime example Aspie, with Tourettes strains and ADD. We of course realised that something was different quite early, but it wasn't diagnosed until he was 15. Instead we pushed him and his abilities. And he held together, with a lot of work from our and his side.

Hence my belief in careful challenges.

I don't think we're that much apart as it might seem, but you framed your protection in that highschool romance movie angry dad style that I'm certain will just make things worse.

Uxbridge? Ask bd nicely :)

My thoughts exactly. Uxbridge is one of my old stomping grounds but I live on the other side of London now, Anders could probably get there faster himself than I could.

BD on the other hand is about a 15-20 minute drive away...  >:D

It’s a possibility. Forward shipping would be a problem though because I have SFA boxes what with them all having stuff in them for moving  :(

Yes, I certainly wouldn't want to receive a box of Apple stuff by accident, since at that point I'd have to ask Saskia if she could spare me 50 grams...

That is what I feared when I saw the first photo, looking terminal?

Not sure. Trying to revive. Won't look pretty but perhaps it will work.

 :-DD

Actually I just ordered a couple of MAX cases (basically Italian Peli cases) for the camera and some of the Apple bits for transport. No chance of shipping them to you  :-DD

No TE today. Going to eat, see Dr Strange with the kids and box up some more shite. Will be on Discord later, equipped with alcohol this time for certain.

I'm hoping to be there, also armed with some alcohol too, unless I'm still knee-deep in some wobbly needle meter repairs stuff.

5245L arrived, seems to have survived the shipping. Not powered up, must make lunch first.

Providing it works, I'll go for a 1/10 divider (IIRC I got a few 74HC390) from my normal. Also need to build a distribution amp if the idea with the S-video matrix won't fly.

Fingers crossed for you.  That’s a right ugly mess there.  Blechh!!

5245L mostly works. Connected it up to the 200CDR and it counts beautifully. 2nd Nixie from the right is slightly wonky. But, yes, over all must be declared as victory.

Unclear on Discord, but likely.

A two-layer board offers more hope of successful repair.

Fingers crossed/Thumbs pressed.

Ah yeah you need to keep those shelves balanced.  :)
The X Plus are nice scopes for sure and your new X Plus SA will have you yearning for another mouse/10" touch screen device and if you've been following the forum improvements you'll know what you can turn these devices into.  ;)

Do you use the SA and scope up on the shelf or pull them down onto the bench ?
The SDS2000X Plus are a good bit taller than the SA at 224 mm however it looks like it might fit.
