Well I never expected that there would be quite so many Bah Humbug its bleeding Christmas folk on here. What were you all like as a child, didn't you look forward to Christmas then either?
I can understand the lack of enthusiasm for the commercial aspect of it but the actual decorating, especially the tree and lights I've always enjoyed that part of it
Same here. Christmas is for the children... let them have a few weeks a year when almost everyone is nice to them.
It's the one time of year people treat each other the way they should all the time.
Decorating is one of those family activities that makes treasured memories for your offspring. I get that some of us have already done that and shipped them off to make their own way in the world; that's when you shift into grandparents mode and it's all for the grandkids.

As always YMMV, Not absolutely EVERYONE, Yes horrible things happen this time of year too, etc...
Yes, Christmas is for the children. Mrs. GreyWoolfe and I are on our second Christmas as empty nesters. Doesn't change the fact that we love to decorate for the holidays. We set up before Thanksgiving and will keep it up into the beginning of January. We don't do a ton but what we do, we enjoy. We also keep in mind for us, the reason for the season.
Charlie Brown: Isn’t there anyone, who knows what Christmas is all about?!
Linus: Sure Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about. Lights please?

And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them! And they were sore afraid. And the angel said unto them, “Fear not! For, behold, I bring you tidings o great joy, which shall be to all my people. For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ, the Lord. And this shall be a sign unto you: Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.” And suddenly, there was with the angel a multitude of the Heavenly Host praising God, and saying, “Glory to God in the Highest, and on Earth peace, and good will toward men.
That’s what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown.
