computer for daughter is finished, tested, and works. Received a Demolition Man pinball cpu board, some vias eaten away, but should be fixable. Also, finally back at size 18 and 30 kg weight shed.

Good job, are you still going for a size 14?

Yes. will take me another 20 - 30 kg. Just about 5 cm belly away from a size 16 Levi 550. Working on it. New clothes will deplete my TEA budget significantly ...

Congrats on the weight loss.  I am down 39.5 kilos myself.  don't blow the budget on clothing now.  We didn't.  I picked up 4 pairs of dress pants for work, company provides company shirts.  1 dress shirt, a couple of t-shirts as I still have some of my old baggy shirts for around the house, a pair of dress shorts as I only wear long pants for work, a few pairs of knock around shorts a a single pack of underwear.  Yea, we do laundry more often now but pants are still expensive when you are a size 50 and weigh 135 kilos.  I am also not above going to thrift stores to save money.  We will add to my empty side of the closet with I hit goal, hopefully around 86 kilos.  Keep the clothes count down for now so you have more money for TE!!

Anyway, experimented a bit. At first even with 60Volts (the two floating output wired in series) I could not light it up, zero light, zero current flowing, nada, dead. So I thought OK see, the LED string in there is open circuit, it's dead that's all. Then as I wasfiddling with the panel, suddenly I saw a very brief flash of white light !

Reminds me of Mr. C., our old physics teacher in advanced physics, a two-hour event per lesson. All would begin with him setting up some electrical experiment. On switching on, nothing would happen. Lots of murmuring and head scratching. Then, he cranked up the voltage. Still nothing. More murmuring. Reversion of polarity. Bang, flash, smoke.

"Assuming the experiment had succeeded, we would have measured something like the following values." And we'd be spending the rest of the two hours watching him do endless calculations on the blackboard while everybody slowly fell asleep.

Things got really exciting with gas discharge experiments which he preferred to do in bright daylight, so he had to run them at several times the usual voltage to be visible while the whole class was sitting in the rearmost two rows of seats behind a wall of book bags.

Congrats, both of you.  :-+

I'm afraid to step on the scale at this point. I can see a difference in my face and legs after a month on hard Keto, but the shorts are still snug fresh from the wash, so I know I need to step up my activity level. Almost done moving...

...or,  for the  really PRO TEA guys, there is a CSAC (chip scale atomic clock, but in Caesium instead of Rb) from the same manufacturer.
Great stability, but phase noise is awful.

Heads up for all German members...

The German Institute for Broadcast Technology (IRT) in Munich is being disbanded which in itself is a shame and a sin but there's nothing we can do about it. They're currently auctioning off all of its assets, mostly office furniture and computer/network equipment but also various electronics and TE. The list includes things like Rohde & Schwarz ADS with a starting bid of 200 euros, HP Universal Counter, Modell 5314 A, various decoders, encoders and analyzers, a Tektronixs (sic!) 2430 scope starting at 50 euros, Weller WECP 20, 3D printers, Rohde 6 Schwarz FSQ8, CMW500, Tektronix TDS 724A, Audio Precision System One +DSP, Rhode & Schwarz SAF... over 1800 items.

https://www.reich-bayern.de/de/objekte/au-116/liquidationsversteigerung_der_irt_institut_fuer_rundfunktechnik_gmbh_teil_2_-_ha?Lstatus=1

Do note: +18% fee, +19% VAT, no shipping, bidder collects.

they have a lot of interesting Equipment but with the taxes and fees it gets  expensive

placed a couple of bids ...

Just diagnosed a dead woofer in one of the Rogers LS4a speakers in my dining room. I bought these second hand 25 years ago. Tested with my Gould J3B audio signal generator, which I bought second hand more like 30 years ago. It doesn't get out much these days, but it does have a built-in very low impedance output that can put 3VRMS into typical speaker loads. The ideal TE for this particular job!

I found a replacement woofer on eBay - let's hope it works...

We had Rogers speakers all over the place at BFBS Cologne, in the late 70's. Mostly driven by Quad power amps. I had a pair of LS3/5a in the O/B van. Fond memories...

Tek 2430 any good ?

Yes dear. Decent scope. It's sort of an early hybrid analog/DSO. Have one. A few "gotchas". First, the NVRAM battery should be changed. I've done it and I can take you through the process. I also did a total re-cap of the PSU and again I can help with that. But one thing you should NEVER do is operate it outside the case for long periods. There are certain hybrid modules that will overheat and self destruct. Yes, found THAT out the hard way. That's the reason it has a large and somewhat noisy fan.

I've got a couple of Rogers Studio 1 speakers, which are better than my ears now :(

Shortly I'm going to have to decide what to do with my father's Wharfedale Dovedale 3 speakers, which in some ways I prefer.

Actually I quite like that version, does away with those pesky intermittent/dirty range switches you normally get.  :-+
