Ooooooh 577 curve tracer 20 miles from me. Broken. Buyer collects. Starts at £50  :scared:

But will it fit in the French POS of yours?  :P :-DD
Plenty of room  :-DD. 7603 for size:
Oh my... but loaded down like that, mileage must go to complete shit. You'll have fuel it with horsefly farts or badger toots to keep above the minimum speed on the freeway.  :-DD

mnem
*dwagon poot!* here's a little octane boost for ya buddy...  >:D

:-DD 66 mpg avg. Try that on your vehicles that side of the pond. Might get to the gas station on a tank  8)

Disclaimer: realistically 50mpg the way I drive it though

Remember, the "other side of the pond" uses "pretend gallons!" ;D

I like the old school Soldapullt DS 017.

Easy to use one-handed, good suction and draws in a high volume.

-Pat

Maybe I need a better desoldering gun.

But, I always reach for Soldapullt. Replaced the tip several times.
Bought a new one, when the old finally bit the dust

My PAT seems to work fine with battery power - but is dead when trying to run on mains.

... ...

Not comfortable with settling for something less than advertised, so it was sent it back today.

Maybe I need a better desoldering gun.

Got one two years ago and haven't touched any of my pumps ever since.
If I knew everything I'd be starving because no-one could afford me.

OK .... I'll up the ante.  Look for a bargain PAT with leakage test.

I kind of like the old solder suckers and prefer them over a desoldering gizmo.
When used with hot air or a preheater they work splendidly and way faster than a desoldering gun would do.

I do have 2 desoldering guns btw ... one Atten G-5150 and one from Hakko that requires pressured air to operate.
I still prefer my Quick 861DW for preheating, along with Flux, plus a solder sucker.
Works faster, less potential damage to the PCB and less thermal strain ...

These little "maker's plaque" type markings are important for the day-to-day use of an item, as they convey what the maker feels is the core purpose of the product.

That definitely is more than just marketing wank.

This too. One could argue that the yellow "<" and the word "FARA" are "Jet engine marketing", but as having once been qualified to work on an civilian airport apron area, I promise there's another purpose  :-DD

This individual aircraft, a SAAB J32B Lansen, fvnr 32569, was delivered 1959 and served as all-weather interceptor at a few different wings. In 1972 it was rebuilt into a J32E ECM platform, and served in that rôle up to about 1998.
This one on a C-130 is a bit pointless, th prop will get you first :scared:

Nice instrument for the one be able to do the pickup:
https://www.ebay-kleinanzeigen.de/s-anzeige/hp-8922f-hf-power-meter-oszi-hf-generator-keysight-agilent/1846063669-168-7251

Only if you want a 30kg 150kHz 'scope and CW only signal generator!
These old GSM test sets are pretty usless other than the 8924.

It works!  (mostly)

Some of the switches need some cleaning, as it took some exercise to get the polarity (PNP-NPN switch) to connect well enough to put the initial point of the trace in the right spot - you position it in the lower left corner in NPN, then adjust the 'variable' control on the time base to position it at the upper right when the 7CT1N is switched to PNP mode - it would often only go to mid scale rather than the top, and it took some working of the switch to get it solidly up there.  Seems a bit of a freshening up is in order.

-Pat
Ok, I'm sold. Which 7000 series should I buy to make good use of a 7CT1N? The 7904 looks interesting with it's 500MHz BW. In actuality though, my main use for an analog scope is for looking at analog audio and sometimes analog video (NTSC/PAL) signals. Or perhaps I'll need two mainframes. One for audio/video, and another for showing off that curve tracer, with one 3-slot mainframe/large screen and one 4-slot mainframe/smaller screen.
I think pretty much any one of them would work.  Hell, collect the whole set!   >:D >:D

-Pat
You're right.  :-+ How dumb of me to think otherwise. It might take a while, but if I have the whole set, then there's no issue with me worrying about if I chose the wrong one. And of course a complete set of plugins to match. That ought to keep me busy for a couple of years trying to find good deals on all that gear.

Ahhhhh... I love the smell of enablement in the morning... >:D

Oh, and in case I forgot... welcome to the nuthouse Aaron; here, have a taco. ;)

Actually, I got the fixture last year for the 576.  They occasionally show up on the bay for not terrible $$ if you keep an eye out and grab one quick.  I dunno what's with the perceived value on ebay for Tek transistor test fixtures - people seem to think they're made of solid gold with what they're asking for them.  Crazy.

Good luck getting yours up and going!

-Pat

Yes that's the problem here. The guy I bought the plugin off is selling the fixtures separately at £80 a go.

I'm going to make one though - not difficult. DPDT switch, two transistor sockets and three banana plugs in a box  :-//

Plus a 3D printer... and filament... and a weekend poring over Thomas Sanladerer videos...  :-DD

The large volume of the chamber is key. Smaller ones move too fast when triggered and the impact from inertial reaction can damage components and traces.

But I still intend to shop a cheapie desoldering station soon.  ;)

mnem
Yeah, yeah, yeah... I suck solder.

North or south of $300?

I got a price for the Waterjet cutting of my Welding/Jig table today and my Kidney's are already on third mortgages. I have no plans for it and got it more out of curiosity at the time. South of $200 squids to your door but I will see what I paid for it if I can.

I have a little cheapie PTC preheater (commonly used for populating LED emitter PCBs) bought off AliEx which I've used for preheating and bulk SMD harvesting. Works a treat if the board is component-free on the bottom. I can see how an IR preheater would be even better; just pick the parts you want off with a tweezer or scrape with a knife.
