just in case someone here cares.

it is possible to download a linux version of "waveforms" on a crap little chromebook (lenovo ideapad 11.6) and have it talk to an analog discovery 2.

did not think it was actually gonna' work.

EDIT  the poor little idea pad got HOT HOT HOT!  took linux off and it is back to normal.  (but it was an interesting experiment)

Did some initial checking and not finding anything obvious. So it looks like I'm forced to verify each and every connection with this pictorial of the completed instrument. I'll check off each connection as completed (and continuity check too). This is gonna be a long haul.  :scared:

I can assure you that it will be one of the last ones you check, even when you start at the other end, Murphy is hard to beat.

Excellent support from BCD electronics in the GWN  :D
My ebay purchase of a BD M1 bonding tester (4.5 digit 4 wire low ohmmeter) turned up and the charging LEMO plug wasn't just damaged the whole inside was missing and the wires ripped off. Not oly did they send me a PDF manual when I asked last week, but this week when I asked for the pin number / wire colour info for the plug, they sent me connection details and photos of the plug assembly  :-+
If anyone needs a bonding tester for work they are worth a look.

Agreed, although I'm not trying to rehash anything, merely pointing out that those idiots in charge are as guilty of the suffering of the people affected by the devastating floods as those allowing the global virus to run riot. When you break it all down and stick it under the microscope, it will in almost every case largely boil down to greed and its those not involved in the greed that pay the ultimate price.

Hmm, not too sure about that. It'd be nice were it true, but somehow my mind comes up with an image of Rigour curled up into a foetal ball in a corner with Murphy giving him a damn good kicking.

Now, rigor mortis would probably beat Murphy, providing that it's Murphy in rigor.

Yebbutt... it's always your dick that winds up in your shredder when you do something like that... it is like deliberately goading Murphy with a cattleprod. :palm:

Joe Smith, I suppose.

"It looks like a rugged smartphone, so it must be a very smart multimeter." <- What the marketing people hope will happen.

If you're in the market for NCV and similar things, like finding out if the motor capacitor is buggered, I think the accuracy is adequate. SecuritySafety? Seeing as the supplied leads in the video aren't security leads, well....

I like the idea though of having large digits and several measurements (VAC + Hz for instance) displayed simultaneously. It's a function on my Fluke 123 I use a lot: It will -- if possible -- perform 2 interpretations of the measured value, like DCV and ACV at the same time, but I guess that a 1994 Fluke does it better than a 2021 Aneng. How elitist of me.  :-DD

Today arrival and tinkering time: ten DIS1417 (replacements for the TI TIL311)
I've found them in the UK bay and thought, I'll give them a try.

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/281835528940

So I cobbled together a small circuit board to see how the displays were doing.
Well, I like them.  :-+

Now I understand.

NSFW
https://youtu.be/eRIdtMlqwNA

Up to this point I had no idea who she was. Is she actually for real or is it just an act?

That is a surprisingly useful question.

... ... ...

Like ... wow .......

Quote
Regardless if act or not, I'm not surprised she doesn't come here. We have guns. And lots of them. And we know how to use them.  >:D
I've always felt the gun thing in the USA was something difficult to justify ... and then you roll out this observation.

Makes more sense now.

<sigh>  Not well.  Ordered a Dana voltmeter for very cheap last night, and also have an HP power supply enroute.  I'm currently trying NOT to order displays that I really don't need despite their coolness factor...   :palm:
