The hp 437B arrived. Maxim the lab cat is helping me check it out! So far it looks good, pics (and more) to follow ...

Uh no foot-feet this time.  :-DD

I told my friends I could teach them to be funny, but they all just laughed at me.

Got to say that I like the peak stuff. It does indeed just work.

If they added ESR to the LCR45 rather than require a separate box I’d be happier though. You can approximate it with the complex measurement mode though with the device out of circuit.

I have a DCA75 Pro from Peak which I use extremely often, but my Peak ESR60 has taken a bit of a backseat since I got the DE-5000.

Fake AVO. What next?  :-DD

I’m not sure what the market for “I want an avo but I’m not paying that much” is like?!?!

Maybe they could sell them with the table lamp conversion already done?

Best of luck Ice-Tea, hope it's going to be a speedy recovery for your daughter. Hope it's not one of the variants, they are apparently no fun.

Today I caught this bad boy, dropping into Stanstead Airport with the American Defence minister on board for a high level meeting with ours this morning. The minister was then flown into London on one of 3 Black Hawk helicopters who were to far away to grab a decent photo off.  :palm:

Stock photo of Black Hawks attached.

EDIT:
Departed Stanstead about 2.20PM and is returning to base in the USA and refuelling tankers are in position to enable non-stop flight home.

Take care and I hope, she'll get well soon. And I hope, that you will not get it. Fingers crossed.

That's not the 747 normally used to transport the president. That an E-4B which is basically a flying command post. It can function as Air Force 1 in an emergency.

The only good news there is that the younger you are the rarer any complications - which is kind of cold comfort, but some comfort nevertheless.

Give her our collective good wishes for a speedy recovery.

You are correct Med, they have a few of these and the Cold War plan was to keep these airborne in the event of a nuclear strike, so they could operate as command posts and also house as many of the politicians as they could, to deal with the aftermath of any strike, by the use air-to-air refuelling. They possibly also carried spare crews so they could fly 24/7 if need be.

She's 10. I doubt it will do as much as slow her down. On the other hand, chances are me and my wife will catch it and we both are bit too heavy. So.. Eh, well, if you find an add on eBay for a shop full of half finished TEA projects in a few weeks you know why.

Good luck to you all.

About the only "non-standard" thing you could do is use one of those cheap pulse-oximeters to keep an eye on how your lungs are working.

My best wishes to you all, especially your daughter. In my experience, the pulse oximeter was a bit erratic. You need to be careful placing it correctly and consistently. OTOH I suffer from Raynaud's, so blood circulation to my fingertips is not ideal.

Very much so.  I can easily get successive readings between 91-98% with different fingers.

Partly it is the old story of needing to become familiar with your equipment's limitations. I find the most repeatable measurements are if I don't let it clamp down tight on my finger.

Nonetheless, for this purpose poor repeatability is acceptable: if the reading remains below, say, 89%, then get proper advice.

Here they have been issued to people whom are more likely to suffer problems as a cheap sanity check. I haven't heard anything about the results, but I doubt it will do much harm.

I have no valid opinion about those. I bought one of the £20 things that clip on a finger, because I'm only interested in an early warning sanity check suitable for someone that lives on their own and might not realise the SPO2 is below 50% (seriously!)

Having anything is better than waiting for an ideal meter!

I'm no physician, but my understanding is that that person will have some serious problems well before they get down to 50%!!
