Fucks sake there goes my evening. Panasonic Lumix DMC-G5K is a piece of shit for a camera. My middle one got given one for her GCSEs by a well meaning relative but unfortunately the due is a DSLR enthusiast so had meddled the fuck with it first and it's classifiable as vintage now as well. So she went out this weekend and took some photos and the entire batch got show in Panasonic's proprietary RW2 format with no processing whatsoever. This lead to every bloody photo's histogram being screwed up and full of noise. Argh. So I managed to unfuck 30 of the best images with Darktable to some degree. So I reset the camera and got it shooting fine JPEG and there's still really bad noise on the images. Hmmmm 10 year old camera - steaming pile of turds. Fuck it - the camera on her 2020 iPhone SE is better.

Edit: comparing my now 11 year old D3100 would have been better  >:(. Now I remember why I don't own a DSLR any more!!!!
What is the ISO set at?

Tried it at various and different lighting conditions. Noise is still there.
Have you checked that it hasn't been programmed with a custom function. You could also see if there is a firmware update for it. Also have you got another lens to try on it to make sure that it is the camera body or lens at fault?

It’s had a full reset done on it. Only got one lens. Definitely not the lens!

Well that camera is well known for being grainy at ISO 800 and above, sweet spot is around ISO 200.

Really if it's not that bad why don't you just probe the rails to check ripple is within spec and if so leave it be ?

I'd rather not make bargains with Murphy. Guaranteed lose.

Dear TEA,

I just received a parcel with a faulty DSO1002A scope. From the initial testing it seems that it works fine, which made me dissapointed. Is everything ok with me? I think this is a good place to ask this question  ;D.

I will direct your attention to number 7 above. ;) Also number 11; it is always applicable.  :-DD

Welcome to the TEAnonymous madhouse; the neverending Taco truck is over in the corner, bean's hiding out in the 3DP thread, so maybe the coffee wagon will be restocked soon and you'll wanna watch oot for a grinning Smurf running around with a can of bloo spray paint. Cerebus is mostly harmless unless you see him with his conversational cutlery; if you see Saskia doing arts & crafts, be forewarned... that is not Play-Doh she's rolling into little shapes there... :scared:

Added Dave's tweet about our "test equipment dark web" to the "TEA around the Web" section in the OP.

(I'm enjoying the thread in time-warp mode. :-DD)

I was wondering what the dark web was and was part of it all along !  :scared:

Na, we're nothing so glamorous as the Dark Web. We're the "a bit grubby around the edges" Web or, to borrow a phrase from sellers of collectable books, slightly foxed.

Actually found 10 minutes  to power up the new beasty. Doesn't seem to like the 16pF 6200 Tek probes from my 453 to much or there is an issue with the test oscillator (8-12pF is the range suggested) :-// It came with a pair of evilbay trash 6100 clones :palm:

Fed some assorted signals from the Siglent on the main bench. Output 2 to Aux 2 was max stretch for the longest test cable I own. More Jenga or a new longer lead needed ;D

Dropped a few test points from my Valhalla Calibrator via the 6200 probe and all looked as expected albeit it off in amplitude due to the probes. So looks like I am waiting for my 6139A probe for proper playing and some bench space to lift the lid and look for suspect Caps.

Looks like that scope is set to output in a serif font...

Here's the PSU out of the Type 422. I had to remove it from the case in order to prep for paint. A very unique and jammed design. And it fits very tightly in the rear case. Took a while to carefully remove it.

Nice little scope isn’t it. Been trying to nail one here myself unsuccessfully for a long time.

What about if I put a 10mA RCD to save my ass on the entire mains on my bench TEA.
Now I have a 30 mA but there is an angel on my right shoulder telling me:"Go for 10mA, go for 10mA...".

Yes sometime I play with 230VAC mains  >:D

I suggest you never want to look at the PSU in a Tek 492! Strange connectors and cables in very strange and awkward positions :(

Thanks Robert,

Those Delta's are nice...
have 2x 15-2 and 2x 30-1(one also broken meter) and 1x 60-0.6 ... that 300 0.1 you have is still missing.
and as Ice-T showed there are also those switched 19"ones .. i have a broken 7020 .. keeps showing OVP ..
need to check that out still,  but that one is switched i prefer the linear ones.
and it is just nice because i blowup my first caps there at school (a lie, my dad tought me before school)  :-DD

That might come around to bite you on the arse in terms of nuisance tripping. Aside from the cumulative earth leakage currents from a few SMPSs, you're quite likely to see excessive earth leakage on something you put on the bench to repair. An old Y capacitor made by everybody's favourite X & Y capacitor manufacturer comes to mind as an obvious example.
