The 3456A capacitor adapter board is 15 miles away at a distribution center. Even the USPS wankers should be able to make delivery happen today.  ::)

Today is supposed to be 11 C and right through Sunday temps consistently well above freezing during the day. Looks like at last will start melting all the white crap out there. But it's going to take a few weeks unless it gets REALLY warm.

It's early in the morning, give them at least some time to drink their coffee.  :-DD

I don't know. Guess you'll have to go through a VPN. The other big box home center in the U.S. is Lowes. They have similar items. Try their website. Lowes.com

Performance/accuracy check. Must keep things in tip-top shape.  ;D

Was gonna say "calibration verify" but that's a dirty word.  :o

Silly boy, of course you do.  :P :-DD

I have no grand plans to go to high accuracy Bridge measurements so no I really don't. ;) But maybe @Wolfy might need a drive down the coast  :-DD

I’m with you on that. Sitting here drinking my very American black coffee at the moment  :-DD
Coffee is done for the day and instead it's now single malt and dry.
3 scopes sold today so maybe I've earned it.  :P

I've flogged something on fleabay, the buyer has paid for postage but suggested that he collects it (which was an option in the sale).

I've no reason to believe the buyer is malovelent, but what do I need to avoid in order to ensure the transaction doesn't end in tears?

If you have no tracking information uploaded for the sale and the buyer puts in an "Item Not Received" claim - you'll lose - instantly.

I've heard examples where the seller has taken all sorts of evidence - even signatures - and still lost.

Yup, that's one concern since it (currently) appears that he has paid to have it delivered. I don't know whether that can be changed in the fleabay system.

You got a good price for that.

I'd still send it via mail - point out Covid and the restrictions around collection etc. Only winning scenario for the seller is that the package was delivered via whichever courier you sent it and the tracking is traceable via eBay's system. If the buyer collects it and you mark it as dispatched then the buyer can dispute it and you have no tracking ID so the buyer will get refunded.

Step one is always "empty it the fuck out of your paypal account" though  :-DD

... eventually!

(He doesn't have negative feedback, but the transaction still has to be completed to everybody's satisfaction)

I was under the impression that fleabay sent them a magic number, they gave that to me during collection, and I used it to prove it had been collected.

I can hypothesise several failure mechanisms, e.g. fleabay thinking I'm posting it, or them giving me a false number.

Surely then paypal just sucks it from the associated credit card?

Was that the one you were trying to sell me a couple of years back at Harwell?   :-DD

Ideally the magic number is presented by the smartphone equipped buyer as a QR code and the smartphone equipped seller scans it. Both devices are authenticated so the handover is verified as both parties have agreed. Have done it a couple of times and it works very well.

As for paypal sucking it back, indeed. They're changing it all soon so I've opened another account with Santander just for ebay payments and will use their new system. If you open a basic account you can't go overdrawn even with DD. They can duke it out with the DCAs then  :-//

(He doesn't have negative feedback.....)

Don't know about your corner of the world - but for Australia, eBay stopped buyers from being given negative or neutral feedback some years ago.  They don't want to make the people who bring the money to the platform uncomfortable in any way!  (Yes - even if they royally screw a seller!)

I have waited a long time for this. While my Belzer engineer's spanners were complete in imperial sizes from 5/32" to 3/4", I was missing some of the metric ones. Until today. 15/16/18/19/20/21/22 aquired in fine condition. Ok, I had a rather warty 15 and a 19 (warty too), they did not fit in and I can bask in the gleaming chrome of completeness soon! ;D

I dare to say that you might have misunderstood the intention behind that - as 'bad guy from down under' is somewhat redundant, isn't it?  >:D
