Printers, grrr bloody laser printer printed out 6 pages perfectly, had a paper jam, now printing thick black horizontal lines 10mm thick every 30 mm down the page so an A4 sheet gets 8 of these bloody lines per sheet. Give me an ink jet every time  |O

What's the page count on it? Sounds like the drum is fucked.

Got a new toy for the stack of soldering equipment: It's the cheapest of the whole stack, anyway a few tests showed it does the job. As it's rather seldom used, I'm happy with it for now.

I've one of those too, labelled ZD-915. Been using it for years without a problem. Just be careful to make sure the nozzle is solder-free before it cools down and clean the glass chamber regularly.

McBryce.

Little trick for those desoldering iron. My cheap S-993A had developed a problem where it was getting clogged all the time. So I tried using Mig nozzle gel inside the tube of the desoldering iron. Ideally you want the gel inside the tube and not at the tip. Never had any problem after that. The gel work at hight temperature and prevent solder to stick to metal.

Lubrication is everything  :-DD

Good tip. It seems a bit expensive to buy a big tin though. A bit of safety data sheet research shows composition to be 990-100% Petrolatum AKA Vaseline.
I'll try that first

Has a first aid measure for skin contact - Apply an emollient  :-DD :-DD :-DD

Well, obviously those of us with welders already have some around, but it's only like $5 for one of those 16 oz tubs.

ON THE BENCH TONIGHT: 5Kg Boneless Pork Roast

Smeared in (I Can't Believe It's Not) butter & pan-seared & on a bed of carrots to get it in the roaster by noon. The usual seasoning rubs. I expect this to take 6-8 hours, so rest of veggies (aside from onions on top) will go in aboot the 3 hour mark so they don't just turn into a slurry.

Now to chop up some veggies; this will actually happen on the bench as our kitchen is so small there isn't room to lay them all out. Plus I can sit, which I need a break off my feet anyways.

I made entrecôte slices, pepper sauce and the world's best potatoes. And as we sat down to eat my file server in colo decided to call it a day. Sometimes, having another machine around, with the IPMI commands to get a serial console documented, is a saturday night saver of considerable importance.

It hands out iSCSI storage to the compute node nearby, so am currently restarting processes on the compute node to get them over the fact that their storage was ripped from under their feet.

Since they seem to be be highly regarded by some, here's another one. With a defective fan. Prime candidate for the fanless modification.

As long as it's not a substitute for skill in proper preparation. ;)

Well it is in the drum area, along with the drum there is a charge roller of 37.7 mm circumference, which must be the culprit as that is the spacing of the black lines and nothing else is that size. So thats the good news, the bad news is that they don't want anyone touching as there is no strip down information on the imaging unit, everything else on the dam printer has detailed exploded views and part numbers for everything  :palm: |O

Nope, I have been printing a test page and those bloody lines are always there, I blame C for this, I think he started a thread about ink jets and then this happened. :-DD

Good start to the day. My battery charger just blew up  >:(

Can anyone recommend something that will charge 12x AA NiMh cells independently?  Edit: might actually just charge them off a power supply at C/10  :-//

I've been using the 10-slot predecessor to this one from Tenergy for ~15 years:  https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00ZYTX93M/

Similar ones all claiming independent channel charging:

one of these is on the way to my fortress of solitude , but stuck at the big sorting center in harrisburg.

anyone have experience with them?

https://www.ebay.com/itm/HP363-RF-Power-Meter-50-to-0dBm-1M-10GHz-Attenuation-Value-for-Radio-Instrument/373290120533?hash=item56e9d33555:g:68UAAOSwPJRfkXo4

Oh lordy... just what I need. Another $50 power meter that needs one or two $80 attenuators to work in my application.

Bastard.  :-DD

mnem
*finger hovering over the BIN button anyways*

you are welcome.  (but i do prefer to be called "bastard freq" thank you) already had the attenuators for protecting a couple of spectrum analyzers.

Thank you, bastard-freqq.  :-DD

But I was able to resist; I realized that my existing RC-oriented RF meter is more than adequate, and task-specialized. I also have a number of appropriate 0-6GHz and 0-18 GHz SMA attens from Micro-Circiuts and INMET purchased for my previous RC-oriented RF meter in the trailer in BuffaloNY; I just can't make myself duplicate that largish expenditure at this point. :-\
