In my next home I will not have any problems I hope.

do you have a POST card that you can shove into that thing ?

https://www.ebay.de/itm/TL611-Pro-PCI-E-LPC-Motherboard-Diagnostic-Test-Analyzer-Post-Test-Debug-Cards/164324895237?hash=item264286ea05:g:FhQAAOSwhHVfLEfB

remove battery. reset cmos. put in known good ram. check if any pins in the socket are bent. Are U using the correct CPU ? (socket 1150, may be obvious, but you never know)

check voltages on the various rails, 5V, 12V, 3.3V, 1.5 V for the RAM

if those are correct: you may need a mobo diag card. (see above, look for TL611 or similar). You may also want to have a table of the post codes.

Quite funny you decided to show up now. Just dusted of a stack of Datron and watching some of your content right now ;)

LOL, I purchased my Solartron 7075 from you last year... noticed that when I checked out your eBay store :-)

Thanks for the pointers.
Back story:
Was bought for a new build and I fitted it into a mini tower box with 16G of new RAM and i3-4170 1150 CPU and given to my PC tech mate to install all the nice FREE SW he has  ;) and configure it all as my main W10 box.
120 GB SSD plus a 1 TB spinner onboard graphics etc  :blah: nothing fancy.

When he got the bloody thing it never fired up and fearing that I might need it in a hurry we bought another MB ....not as good but it got it going. Couldn't get another B85M-G at the time and as I'd never booted it don't know if it was DOA or I'd zapped it with static during the build.  :-//  >:(
Done a few builds before and never had problems so grrrrr !
So MB sat on the shelf back in its static bag and in OEM box for a couple of years and now I see you recovering MB's I thought I'd ask for any tips.

"What's that Skip? You've seen some old test equipment in the back of a barn?"

You left the important part off, "Of you go Skippy and I'll follow"  >:D

Oh, I did didn't I?
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

Speaking of German muppets, my building management team is also contaminated:

and yes they deserve some measurements... 65.2C hot water temperature at the third floor?  :bullshit:

Not sure, what the problem is, in my  bathroom I'm having 64.0°C

I assume it arrived well? I tend to have my butcheeks clenched when I send stuff that far away...

Accidently, I have a number of GPIB modules for them. I removed them from most units because they caused issues, so I assume they're bad but if you want one you can have one for the cost of shipping.

The problem I always burn my hands when I turn on the hot water. It's annoying.
I'll be danmed, I never lived in my past  40 years of life in a home where the water was so hot.
Normally I perfer about 50C.

@Zucca it is meant to be >60 to kill off any germs (legionellas)
This was the card I was referring to. I am using it to check if the voltages are there. In modern mainboards it will not necessarily display the POST codes though.

@Tautech an old Haswell board may not be worth the effort. I'd throw out the battery and reset the cmos as it most likely got corrupted. You may want to check the mosfets for any shorts though, those are a common cause for failures.

What Saskia wrote. (below what I'm quoting) You should be grateful that your landlord does their part on purging legionella. Our geothermal pump makes extra hot water once a week to solve the same problem.

Well done... some excellent electron-tracking detective work there. Nice to see all that ionized gas ionizing as intended, instead of however-the-eff it felt like. ;)

Well the 5325B crystal oven heater resistance is lower than what the manual states (60Ω to 80Ω, I suspect it may have shorted turns.

And it gets better, I don't know why I missed this in the 5325A, a previous owner had toasted the inputs and then guessed the value of the 100kΩ resistors, than toasted them some more.  >:D

Roadtrip @Med @Nixiefreq others? eBay auction: #293945475353 Only a few miles and some snow likely to be in the way  >:D Some other goodies from the same seller too....

Also a stash of HP feet  :-+ eBay auction: #363037725383p

That Scope-mobile fills me with "Teklust"!

Another strange thing came to me---------how come that I used to continually find many more of those feet in the "odds-n-sods" box than could be justified by the number of  rack mounted things from HP in each site? (If they were used on a bench, they would still need them).

Also, why didn't I nick them, while I had the chance?
They probably ended up in the dumpster! :-\

Well that's the thing about what you see in porn, it looks exciting but if you try it yourself you sprain something, bruise something else, dislocate another part and end up exhausted, disappointed and covered in goop.

Now I'm truly green with envy.

OK .... I've done it.  NanoVNA and TinySA ordered, together with a test/demo board kit.

Now waiting on that slow boat........

(I'd blame Bean and Mnem for inciting this action on my part - but they'd both probably wear that badge with pride.)

The Tiny SA looks good but my old Eyes would like a larger screen  ;)
