actually overtime.
Have 16 days of 2020 vacation left, no time to take it. Did about 5 - 6 weeks overtime this year.

Hubby wants to come up north tomorrow. too tired to clean up the flat today, will have to get to it tomorrow morning as soon as I get up.

Working through as my boss is an arsehole.  :horse:

While up for a pee at 4am he makes me check emails and overnight missed calls and then catch up on the blog however once done at least he lets me get a few more hours nap.  :=\
But he's still a slave driver and again later today I have all this welding and lathe work to do.....and it's a Saturday here FFS.
Anyways must be thankful for small mercies as Christmas day I'm allowed to just check emails and feet up for the rest of the day. :phew:

My annual one was 4 days on the water game fishing in my Cuz's flash 50 footer but alas not this season as the fishing comp dates clash with a NZ trade show we need be at so that arsehole boss won't let me get any time away this year.  :wtf:
Oh but due to CV we missed a day out chasing Bambi in a forest close by so we still get that day out this June and for sure it will be pissing down too.  ::)

Your boss sounds like a right case. Tell you what, if you want I'm sure we all could come up with some schemes for you to get a little surreptitious revenge on him. Probably starts with a can of Boarmate...  >:D
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

For the Tektronix experts:

Is this R&S branded scope a Tektronix? To me it is looking a bit unfamiliar.

Took some digging but it's a rebranded Panasonic VP-5512A  :-+

Edit: and that was a welcome break from work.

400 € for a 100 Mhz CRO? Reminds me of the 499 € for a similar Philips scope. Who is going to pay these ridiculous prices?

Be sure, not me. :) Not for a rebranded 2 Ch, 100MHz Panasonic scope.
I'm having it on my watchlist. Curious how long it'll take until the price gets reduced or somebody will buying it.

You know, every day a stupid man is getting up ...  ;D

I have one on the watch list too, now. Looks a bit dodgy but is claimed working. Trouble is it's claimed collection only. Will ask about shipping before I bid.

just put the capsaicin mix under the toilet door handle. You'll manage.

@med nope, I am not the resident redhead.
I did however have a fight with the company diversity redhead who wanted me to genderize my translation engines. I told her that if that was so important, she should be getting the budget for the 5 computer linguists for the next 10 years who have to sift through 275 million segments per language pair to enter that bullshit. If she can present that business case to our board and get it approved, I would comply with her request. Otherwise she should not hesitate to get lost as I had more pressing stuff to do.

For your reference, here's an old photo.

When my mum was working as an analytical chemist she worked in a lab that did lots of quality analyses on essential oils and other flavours and fragrances ingredients. A young lad in the lab had been working with some peppermint oil and forgot the golden rule of washing your hands before going to the toilet when you work in lab. Apparently his escalating screams could be heard all the way back in the lab.

I can clean it up now, pack it up, put it on the shelf and wait for an available CRT.
I hope it doesn't take more than 10 years. :palm:
Can you not get that one reconditioned at a specialist?

I don't think any commercial CRT rebuilders are left since RACS in France closed, unless you know of one, can't imagine the cost would be any less than buying another scope.

Serves you right for not booking them early enough

I'm back on the 4th like most. I did consider booking an extra week but we have an emergency rush job (only type we seem to get these days) starting on the 4th, building a vaccine station.
Booking extra holidays at this point would make me a cunt, and I'd rather leave that speciality to the managers.

Any thoughts on $500 CAD for a pair of supposedly working Tek 422 & 454a scopes?
The pictures showing a trace look more like noise than an actual signal.
My thought is this price is much too high, but would half that be too much Ferengi.
I also have to consider travel distance; they are closer to Dwagon-land than to here.
Also, SWMBO would certainly object to the space taken up by two of the same thing.

I could be just looking for anything to break the drought on TE up here; a nixxie frequency counter would be a better acquisition but I still have never seen one...

How about a HP 5326B 50MHz timer counter/DVM? might need some work, some feet as it was rack mounted & replacement knob, but the listing does have "make offer". Note these later ones should be upgradeable with an oven reference (10544).

It looks beautiful, but it doesn't show anything. I measured high and low pressure, both normal, suspected CRT damage :palm:

After trying asin(acos(atan(tan(cos(sin(6°)))))) bye bye emu48.
Reading the 42s manual now.
You addicted me to rpn now. Bastards

Just wrote the first program on free42 to calculate the Zparallel starting from Z1 and Z2, yes it works also with complex number (impedance).
