Just spent twenty minutes watching weasels kill stuff on YouTube. Going to bed  :-DD

Well you were weasily satisfied, given that you've obviously decided to ferret out something stoataly different to do after only 20 minutes.

More curve tracing fun. Apologies for the slight parallax...I grabbed this with my phone as I felt too lazy to set up my tripod and dSLR. I really need to move forward with modding the C-12 camera I have to admit a modern camera.

Anyway, I could have really used this when I was building Jim Williams pulsers. Rather than guess at when your transistor might avalanche, you can determine exactly where it will avalanche. The setup is a pair of otherwise identical NOS Motorola 2N2369, the same transistor Jim used. Note that the first one is not avalanching at all at 30V on the collector sweep, but the second one is. The first requires significantly more voltage before it will avalanche. Settings are 30V collector sweep, .5 mA/div vertical, 5 V/div horizontal, .02 mA/step, and 5K dissipation limiting resistor selected.

What type of curve tracer instrument is this?

That's just... wow. The hair on the back of my neck stood up. Everything aboot the layout and the PCBs on that thing just feels like golden age Sony; but the chassis and CRT fixtures still feel Textronix.

It's like some unholy demon child... I want one. :-DD

His PCB is very close to 454A.

787 battery was Li-ion not LiPo Lots of E-cig issues and they arn't LiPo either

787 battery was high-density prismatic cells. The e-cig "issues" are primarily from modders deliberately exceeding the safe discharge rates of the cells, and not explosions, but rather wires melting and/or burning. No different from similar meltdowns that happen just as easily with low-iR NiCds. Now you're blaming the technology for the stupidity of ElectroBoomers.

:bullshit:

Please LEARN and open your mind about batteries you are cherry picking a single case to lambast a whole technology. Stop it and stop throwing rocks based on this :-- To continue this is real  :bullshit:

I have been using ALL battery technologies in R/C electrics for nearly 30 years. NiCads, Nimh and Lipos have all smoked and I have seen flames come out of ALL of them when abused physically or poor charging. In my now well over a decade of LiPo use I have had a few puff in the early ones from pushing them to hard but never had the smoke come out including in some major impacts.

A/ We were not discussing LiPos
B/ It's not a single case.
C/ I thought everyone was done with this.

A friend of mine had a LiPo explode on him while charging.

The resulting fire caused a lot of property damage, the house was uninhabitable for several months.

YMMV. But I do not trust these suckers.

LiPo packs don't bother me.  Just don't buy no brand ones with no protection or charge controller, never charge them when you're out or asleep or leave them unattended and make sure you have suitable fire extinguisher, smoke alarm and insurance. This is all safety first 101 stuff :-//

It looks beautiful, but it doesn't show anything. I measured high and low pressure, both normal, suspected CRT damage :palm:
Something unfortunate happened.

I can clean it up now, pack it up, put it on the shelf and wait for an available CRT.
I hope it doesn't take more than 10 years. :palm:

And I don't care much about the poles, either.

For the Tektronix experts:

Is this R&S branded scope a Tektronix? To me it is looking a bit unfamiliar.
