This is very tempting. A Type 564 with 4 plug-ins and the cart for only $100 USD. The cart alone is worth the price of admission. It does look a little rough and appears to have been stored in a damp area. It's about 3 hours away. But Christmas is coming and not in the budget for now. If still available in January I just might make a Winter road trip.

Just trying to wrap my brain around the engineering involved here... So the guy took 4 stone-age Horex Regina engines (one-lung, iron-cylinder, dual-exhaust: ), made a custom aluminum crankcase to put them all in one "engine", and then used a Harley transmission cuz... reasons...?

Seems to me he deliberately took just aboot the lowest power-to-weight ratio German motorcycle engine he could could find, then put 4 of them together to get some meaningful amount of power, then pushed all that through a American-redneck-engineered gearbox to get the power to the ground cuz he couldn't be arsed to make something actually built in Germany work.

All to be able to beat a Porsche in a drag race... something I used to do literally every other day on my GPZ1100 and even my 900cc Ninja. Turbo models included.

 That doesn't exactly feel like "German Engineering" to me.  I used to own a Amazonas (Brazilian-made cop-shop motorcycle that used a veedub engine & trans); that thing had more "German Engineering" in it, IMO.

In all honesty, I'd rather have the original Regina... there is some real history there, not just stupid motorhead pissing-contest hype.

Why it must be so difficult to spec the power?

That's the maximum power that you can feed through the main spindle motor. Burst it will take up to 22 kW, if you need longer to finish your job the maximum would be 15 kW. The other motors are similarly rated.

Obviously this thing does not run on single phase, the machine weight is about 15 tons.
But it is quite impressive.

Quite the opposite. I grok in fullness the entire gestalt of the thing; I used to live it. That is what drove me to build things like a 460-Ford powered Beetle and a 500-Caddy powered F-150.   Been dere, dunnat, burned da shirt.  I just never deliberately picked the worst engine I could think of to build with. 

That cycle has been done before, and better; from oodles of V8 versions (I almost built one myself, but decided it was already overdone when I was a teenager) to several with multiple Harley and V-Max engines, as well as all the other rice-rocket brands.



Here's another Werner creation from 2007 built as a publicity stunt for Dolmar;  this is directly derivative of of one made in the US that was popular when I was a kid, with (I think) 16 McCullough chainsaw engines.

Thanks for the heads up!  If I decide to rescue this boat anchor I will be sure to exercise due caution. Perhaps bring some dog biscuits to keep the evil bitch at bay.

Since we were showing garages and storage solutions here's mine. I'm standing in the center bay of a 3 bay garage. The center bay and the 3rd bay are rented by other tenants in our complex. It's automotive stuff, tools/power tools, lumber, empty boxes, etc. No TEA related stuff. That's all kept inside in the TEA closet. The garage does stay dry for the most part but the building is recessed into the side of the hill so the rear wall is at least 8 feet underground. So in heavy rains there is some seepage but it dries out rapidly. I'm out there today building a TEA related shelving unit.

The Civic occupies the garage. The CR-V is kept outside.

I certainly hope they've upped their game since they made my Mlink S4. The station itself was pretty fekking awresome; well-built from anodized aluminum extrusion (it is electric blue, not prrple as my poor photography would suggest) with metal endplates, unlike the plastic-fantastics they're flogging now. Mainboard was HF pulsed DC; allegedly it gets more usable power to the heater without having to resort to huge heavy wires. It did seem to perform as one would expect from a 90-120W rated station. Firmware is a bit on the clunky side; very reminiscent of the Hakko FX-951.

The iron itself is a modular-redesign kludge of old-style Hakko 936 technology with a proprietary thermal sensor that literally cooks itself to death in a matter of months, even with motion-sense auto-sleep mode. That was fekking 'orrible; just hadda replace the handle or rebuild it over and over and over again. One of these days I'll rebuild the whole thing with all OLED T-12 guts.

Atten. Not the biggest fan. Have a 8502D. The iron stopped working within a year. Can't be arsed to sink time in it. The hot air gun still works fine though.

Replaced the iron with an ERSA. Which I don't like either.

If I'm really honnest, I still like my old Weller best. The bit is literally half gone, the casing has been to hell and back but.. eh, love the thing.
