in the German ebay Kleinanzeigen there is an offer for this Solartron dual beam scope:

Is that a genuine Solartron one? To me, it is looking like a rebranded Tektronix but I'm not sure.

STANDARD POWER (20 MIN/CONT)   kW   VAC 22/15

BTW how to read this? for 20 minutes it's 22 KW and 15 KW continuous? Why "VAC" there?
Why it must be so difficult to spec the power?

I had enough trouble finding space for my Myford ML2  ::)

From what you have posted so far, I would love to see a picture of your cave lab. It must be heaven.

PS: This thread is cool, always wanted to start a "whats inside your bench drawers look like post some pictures" but never did it.

It doesn't even remotely resemble anything Tek made. The only thing that might be Tek is the CRT.

No, that is British. My first 'scope was one of those (CD1400). I found it in a scrap yard about 1978. They were worthless then and have not got better with age, Unstable, inaccurate and poor triggering. about the only plus is the big tube, but that makes the whole thing big. don't bother.

Was it a true twin gun (dual beam) CRT or was there some trickery involved?

@bd139 Our politicians voted for a law today giving the current regime almost unlimited power. It somewhat reminds me of Star Wars 3. Merkel makes a good Sith Lord.

If that's not irony:
The new Infektionsschutzgesetz doesn't give the executive unlimited power.
That's an alternative fact.
Truth is that it incorporates measures to limit and regulate power of the executive and to raise the power of the Bundestag.
In fact it solves some points that the opposition in the German Bundestag claimed the last months.

And I really can't imagine Merkel as a Sith Lord. That spoils my memory of Star Wars completely. Stop that!   :-DD

They must have sold a lot of them as they seem to regularly appear on ePay over here, apparently it was sold in the US under the Heath-Solartron brand. https://www.thevalvepage.com/testeq/solatron/cd1400/cd1400.htm

It's a mess, I've got far to much stuff. Below are pictures of the organised storage, over 100 Really Useful Boxes, all documented. There is some complete TEA in there you can just see a couple of Tek 7000 seriers 'scopes. This is good but it's a few miles away and costs money.
The gaage photos were during a reorganisation, so it's not that bad really but there are 4 2M high shelving units pushed tight against each other so very poor access. The space gained by the tidy up has now mostly been taken by a small gas turbine engine (small is realtive).
The indoor workspace is also packed.

Hello,

My name is Kevin and I am an addict.

Anyways, at the suggestion of a good friend and longtime eevblog lurker, I am here to seek therapy for my test equipment addiction in addition to coveted internet points, which are directly proportional to my self esteem.

Since getting serious about electronics after finishing undergrad and starting my first job, I have acquired a number of instruments.

- Keysight MSOX2024A scope
- Keysight E36103A dc power supply
- Keysight AC6801A ac/dc power supply
- Keysight B2902A source measure unit
- Keithley DMM6500 dmm
- Keysight E4980AL lcr meter
- Itech 8512B+ dc electronic load
- HTI 301 thermal camera

Welcome!

Pretty good stuff, looks all shiny and new. Where's the stack of the good 'ol HP, Tek, ... boat anchors?

Absolutely. Nixies are my gateway drug into embedded design. The main stash is well hidden however ;)

These look really pretty. Want one too, especially with the starburst nixies. ;)

Considering a stax right now. However the muulahtory impact is keeping me back.

Yeah... electrostatic driver headphones and small tube amps are a match made in audiophile heaven. Ultimate bookshelf system. Did I mention my Senns cost all of 8 Canadian pesos, governor's share included...?  ;D

Interesting. Must have been late 1960's - early 1970's. I have an extensive collection of Heath catalogs mid 1970's on up and it's not in there.

Edit....Duh....it sez right there, 1969.  :palm:
