Oh, and nukebox XFMRs are a great starting point for "electroboom moments".

Also three of them are a great way of ruining a three phase generator, see "Rodalco2007" on youtube.  :'( A very expensive mistake.
One day I'll have a go at making a spot welder from one of those XFMRs.

Oi! A weekend worth of "FUCK!!!"ses in aboot 3 minutes of video there... and of course, spoot-toob puts a advert just before the fireworks.  :-DD

Yeah, most of the time I use them either for a Jacob's Ladder (oil furnace ignitor is better) or turn them around backwards for lots of current at low voltage.

He sounds South Africa. That's not a weekend's worth, for a South African that's about 30 seconds worth. Sweariest people I've ever known, yer South Africans.
Anybody got a syringe I can use to squeeze the magic smoke back into this?

Again, I think South Africans in general take 2nd place in making "Fuck" sound like they really mean it. The record is held by a Dutch lass who goes by the name of Freya Aswynn. Freya's "Fuck!" is pure poetry to listen to.

Just found a photo online. I've known Freya since around 1993 and this photo captures the gleam of happy madness in a way that others I found don't.

Note that it is clearly indicating the risetime it is measuring, something that I miss in modern scopes.

I like the way it highlights what it is measuring, but I don't agree that modern scopes don't clearly indicate it:

Fair comment, but not all modern scopes are that pleasant and they don't show what they think are the 0% and 100% values.
The Tek in my company lab does 20/80%, 0/100% or what points you specify and I think it indicates them on the waveform as well. :-//

Same on my Lecroy. Got 10-90% (rise) and 20-80% (r20-80%) in the auto measurement.

Can also specify my own level by voltage or % (r@level)

I'd have added some tea-bags and a map of the Boston harbor.

I am not an RF guy, yet I have a RigLOL DSA815-TG which is collecting dust most of the time.
What do you think to get rid of it and buy the NanoVNA latest and greatest (V2 Plus4)?

...another smart idea to waste money with TEA...  ???

I know you can specify the levels and that they are indicated. What I don't see is an indication of what the scope is using as the 100% and 0% levels.
There are lies, damned lies, statistics - and ADC/DAC specs.

Sensible idea. The only win is the NanoVNA is not a spectrum analyser whereas the DSA815-TG is. I've quelled all desires for an expensive SA or VNA with a NanoVNA and a tinySA. They are good enough for my uses which are all under 300MHz :)
