This one is for bd139:

An apple pie which I tested today the first time. It is coming right out of the oven.
The cake has a diameter of 28 cm.

And here is my TI-85 with the dark LCD:

Appreciated. All the eggy goodness.

Looks like an LCD. Rather boring if this should be true :(

Not an LCD as far as I can tell, but the same technology was sometimes used for LCD backlights.
I'll give another clue, the 7 segment VFD tube (shown in the previous post) with a similar font was made by Sylvania.
If the Beckman counter hadn't been dropped on it's journey from the US I would have powered it up when it arrived.

David

EL display? That would be rather rare, interesting. On should recognize this by the driver circuitry.

Yes it has an EL display, I confirmed this at lunchtime when I found a manual for a different model of this counter, Sylvania made some displays of this type in the latter half of the 1960's.
I've been busy today but found a bit of time to open the Beckman counter, the display module looks very similar in design to the smaller Sylvania EL one in a youtube video. It appears to use high voltage & banks of SCR's on the display driver cards.
Also the fan would have been super quiet, as was totally seized.

No it's got a white plastic fan blade, with an economy motor (only one coil) compared with the Tek 310 fan base.
Med might prefer the number readout bulb* version which has no fan. http://crasno.ca/articles/Beckman6148A.htm

edit: *maybe not as the displays aren't blue in that version.

I shall celebrate this victory by drinking the remaining 3/4 of a bottle of the cheapest wine that Tesco produce that went in my beef bourgignon.

I opened one of my few remaining Domaine La Garrigue Gigondas 2017. Mostly because it was the best fit to the sirloin.

Pro tip: connect the 12V rail BEFORE the resistive dropper for your LED.  :palm: Fortunately I have so many LEDs thanks to Sphere free stuff bags I've gotten with orders, I can just swap it out. That smelled bad.  :--

Hi all, catching up a week of TEA thread postings was quite an effort..   :phew:

I wasn't TEA-inactive. I built a Kelvin probe test set for my Agilent 4338B from an HP 16048A.
Don't worry, I didn't d sacrifice the HP 16048A, I bought it already sacrificed and modified to a SMD-Parts probe:

I made the wiring from a 3 line video coax cable (dark blue cable) and a monitor cable with 4 coax lines to connect to the Kelvin clips:

The connection between cable one and cable two I made out of a cheap RJ45-connector I emptied just using the outer shell. I put the soldered and isolated cables into it and filled it with hot snot to build a mechanical stress relief that way:

You can see one of the holes I pressed the hot snot in on the side of the connector housing.

After all it was a success, I have stable readings now on my 4338B and zeroing works fine now also.   :-+

Edit: The 4338B only uses three of its four coaxial probe connectors -the wiring is different from standard Kelvin probes with four coaxial connectors. Those won't work with the 4338B.

Played Cobra Paw with mine.
Either he's improving or I was too busy trying to remember where my box of calculators and left hand are.

..and something other, too:

I collected a specially built surplus 5/6-channel at university when I was a student..
That was roughly 17 years ago and the power supply was old by then..
Sadly it is an open frame construction so it never got onto my bench and was stored at different (dry and clean) locations.   :-\

Shortly I came across Rode&Schwarz housings for 19"TE. Ideal for 19" open frame supplies. I bought one immediately that matched the supply. I had to rip out two angled profiles acting as kind of a rail. Adds side handles, too:

Now I have a nice power supply that's too big for my bench anyway..    :-DD

Also channel 3 and 5 are not dead but faulty - 3 has a faulty current regulation. Have to look after that some time.  :-/O

Found!

There's still stuff that hasn't shown up since my two last house moves like my null-modem cable, I just can't resolve to build another thinking that it must be somewhere.
Tried buying a new one from China it had broken wires from the start.
Here go my three left hands and pairs of calculators.

@mnem, has the shed collapsed on top of you?

Bad and worse and good today...

Bad: Got about 1/4 of the roof up (siderails and 2 panels) using the "two steel-frame kitchen chairs for my fat dwagon arse" method; my back and knee are killing me from resultant contortions trying to reach distant screws that did not want to start.  |O

Worse: I've confirmed without a doubt that I will need to get a ladder, as I need to be able to lean across approx 2 feet of panel at the height of the peak to be able to put in all the screws, particularly the very important panel-to-panel and roof-cap screws. You'd think I'd have remembered that bit, but it has been over a decade since my last one of these kits.  ::)

Good: I got to the bottom of the box tonight.  :phew:

threw 12 Euros at a crimping tool that looks much like a much more expensive tool.
Have tried it and what can I say? It's working absolutely fine.  :-+
