I have 5 rolls on hand which should be plenty to weather any new idiot panic. But just in case it's now autumn and plenty of fallen leaves will be available.  :P ;D

Actually I just checked it and it is in the RM network about 2AM last night so not sure what the delay was. I'm not complaining if it turns up ok.

Fingers crossed I'll get it tomorrow so I can play with it over the weekend.

His shipping method is a drop-kick over the garden gate.

You win some, you loose some... A 8590E blew up when I powered it on but the E4402B ticks all the right boxes...

All the nice options: narrow BW, tracking gen (yay!) and even the low frequency option. But the cherry on top? A grand total of 225 running hours. Yummy!

Also:

Never had one of these. If anyone knows of an easy, representative test on one of those: I'm all ears. And finally:

Turns on but doesn't make sense... Only reacts to current knob... Bit too many decimal points. Even turning it on gets it beyond economic repair, not even going to try. I know there are some Thurlby loverboys around, so this one is free. For shipping at cost this one is yours...

PL310 issue. 40.95 is reading FSD which is usually the ADC or the 4000 mux on it or the pass transistor has gone bang. If the voltage on the output terminals looks sensible when you turn the coarse volts then it's the ADC or mux. If it's above 35 volts, the pass transistor is gone and it's probably FUBAR.

There were several different revisions of them. Some are absolute bastards to repair :(

Edit: also might be the voltage gain trimmer inside it. They go cranky. Give VR6 a whizz around and see what happens.

If you can't be bothered, let me know a shipping quote to UK  :-DD

SDD ratio here is pretty problematic. SDD = Supply:Demand:Dickhead ratio :)

PL310 issue
With output OFF all curret DPs are shown allong with the current limit setting.
If  DPs go off and output goes to 40V when output is ON then you have a voltage regulator/pass transistor issue.

That's actually rather cool. Could chuck that in something valuable in the post and see if it gets knocked around.

I want a similarly sized GPS logger at the moment. Alas they don't exist on the affordable end of things. Just need it to wake up once every 30 minutes or so, get a satellite lock and an approx location.

My current config:

Vintage TE = good, vintage PC = bad... I'm mildly surprised that it can even get past the POST with such meagre specs   :-DD

No time to work on the Type 310A today. The Lady is arriving this afternoon. I may or may not be on Discord tomorrow. It depends. She want's to cook dinner Saturday rather than us go out. Fried chicken and Mac and cheese. Everything neither one of us is supposed to have.  ;D And when she is using my kitchen I am banned from entering. So I might get on. She knows I participate with a bunch of creepy guys on line anyway.  :P :P :-DD
