Other than taxes there is no fees. Shipping is normally expensive with them though (They only ship small items). It's better to fetch the item yourself.

If you're within reasonable distance, for sure.  I did that with a VNA, a signal generator, and a counter all with the 6 GHZ range extender option a couple of years ago and made a (long) day trip to Ottawa out of it with a nice return drive on Highway 7.

I just took a browse through the auction listings and it looks like that scope is the only piece of test equipment in Justin Trudeau's garage sale right now so I don't anticipate another road trip to Ottawa unless that changes.

Yeah... it's a good 8 hours round trip to me... while a younger me would gladly go just for the experience, it'd have to be a total steal to make me not think twice about cost of gas vs shipping, etc.

I could have sworn I saw all sorts of disclaimers re: brokerage fees, handling, etc the last time I actually placed a bid... I was actually relieved someone else bought the tables I was bidding on.  :-//

Brokage and handling fees ... it was probably Equipnet  :-DD

https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/30-series/rtx-3080/

Available tomorrow. I'm not personally lining up for one, but it does represent about a $300 hit to the resale value of my existing water-cooled 2080 Super. ow. And AMD still hasn't stepped up to the plate with a top-tier GPU to complement the crazy compute power of the Zen2 family.  |O

With NVidia confirmed buying ARM and their portfolio of IP just in time for Apple's switchover to their architecture, it looks like the personal confuser landscape is about to get a lot more confusing.  :o

I used to do that all the time, I knew that it was uneconomical but "WTF Road trip!". Nowadays, decrepit as I am, there has to be more at the other end of the trip for me not just to leave it to the postman.

Now, where's that glass of warm milk and where are my slippers.

Similar. I did consider hauling my arse up to Brum to pick up that Telequipment CT71 curve tracer but after running the fuel numbers through my calculator I stopped looking at it when it went above 20 quid. It ended at 185 which is quite frankly insane.

Last insane trip I did involved picking up a 6236b from the Cotswolds and going for a nice long walk somewhere I quite like anyway.

When I made the 8 hour round trip to Gettysburg in July it was just about $50 USD in gas. Plus a toll which I forget how much. Considering what I got (The 2 HP counters, B&K counter,  and a Type 561B) it was worth it.

Edit....Dummy me. I got to meet Nixiefreqq.  :-DD

At UK gas prices the same distance would have been about £70 for a typical saloon car driving at the same kind of speeds. So about $90.

Drove from Belgium to Sweden on my first auction I ever did.

Fun, not looking for a repeat.

I was once in Copenhagen with a couple of days to spare, so I went to Stresa for an ice cream. Stresa is on the shores of Lago Maggiore in Italy.

But I was sensible: I went by train.

went from Mayence to Gent to pick up a Twilight Zone pinball. Did so in my old rusty Ford Expedition.
On the return trip somewhere around Brussels 2 ignition coils decided to quit working, so the car was only going on 6 instead of 8 which made me limp back the rest of the couple hundred kilometers. So I basically did 2000 in a day. That's kinda stoopeed.

But I got my Twilight Zone.

Yeah I was actually just starting a build for my desktop when they announced the RTX 3000 series.  I'm currently planing on trying to pre-order the RTX3070, it's as powerfully as the 2080ti and is only slightly more then I was planning on spending on an amd gpu.  AMD either needs to step it up, or really cut there prices.

Having a test equipment addiction is difficult when you don't have a lot of room.  The solution, only collect small adorable test equipment.

Looking for a tek 1401 / 1401A, if you have one message me

I reckon they’re on it. Apparently some of their GPU slowness was because there aren’t enough production slots at TSMC to make the dies for the market demand.

You know, every time I get an eMail from AutoDesk/Fusion360, it's to tell me about more features they're taking away. As they still refuse to offer a reasonably-priced nonprofit/personal use subscription, I'm beginning to wonder how long before all that's left is the advertising.  :palm:

Grab an ass end Rigol DG811 and crack it to 100MHz dual channel if you want a decent AWG. Can't beat them for the cash.

Ugh, no thanks. I'm sure it would claim to be good, but would sell you out to the Peacekeepers at the first opportunity.

Now you need build one of these:

True, but their new gear is actually surprisingly well priced. Obviously not the 3090 but everything else is... well, I imagine the AMD marketing team went back to the drawing board for their release marketing scheme...

Well, I don't drink. I imagine he never would have offered otherwise. But I imagine he didn't count on 2200km being added in two days.
