swmbo found THIS on the front yard early this afternoon.

so she grabbed him.  he is better than 100lbs.....about 105 would be my guess.

and she scared the crap out of him.  he behaved like a gentleman.

sat on the front porch with him for about 2 1/2 hours when a pickup came slowly up the road.

his name is max.   (bet they call him maxi moose).

Anyone remember Johns Radio (TE dealer) on Whitehall road Brdford (now a car accessory wharehouse)? He used to have a large Rottie in the front yard. I'm OK with dogs and as a fairly regular visitor, despite living nearly 300 miles away, Rocky got to know me. So one day I turned up, opened the gae and walked into the yard. Rocky was a bit more "playful" than usual and when he grabbed my sleeve I gave him a one finger tap on thee nose and told him no. He backed off and I wen into he office. Pat seemed surprised and said "didn't the new dog give you trouble?". I'd just met Rocky II 
Nevet had any troble with him after that.

I stuck another 'scope on the +75Vdc line coming off the Type 81 plug-in adapter, and whattyaknow, more than 1 volt p-p ripple. I'd say that 4 element can is a goner. Pat, any re-stuffing hints? Given how tight quarters the adapter us, I'd rather try my hand at stuffing new caps in the can which will ensure everything fits.

Yep! I think it was clear that it had to be the problem, but this is proof. 

I wish my Type 1A2 was an easy fix as yours. Got me confused at the moment but I'll eventually figure it out......or blast it with a shotgun. 

I can't help but think, seeing as the signal is OK upto a point in your 1A2 and then both channels are affected, that it's got to be something like a dodgy ground connection somewhere between the point where both channels are fine and the point where they are not

I just looked up the manual on Tekwiki - looks like a quad 75uF @ 150V.  How physically big is it?

Outside dimensions--approximate: 2.5 in tall x 1.5 in diameter.

Ok - I found some Rubycons at Mouser that look like they'll work - they are 82uF at 200V, 105*C long life parts.  10mm diameter x 30mm long - it appears that all four will fit easily side by side in the existing can - models/drawing below:









The caps are Mouser part # 232-200BXW82MEFR10X3; $1.44/ea and they currently show over 900 of them in stock.

The latest one starts at image # 67, and this time I added a pair of short video clips at the end showing how I use a little scarp of Al bar stock to re-roll the crimped edge down.  The videos are the last two things in the gallery.

As someone who likes to wear T-Shirts I wanted to have one with a TEA logo on it.
But I wasn't able to find such a logo, perhaps I've overlooked it somehow.

If we don't have a TEA logo, is there somebody here with us with some
graphical and artist talents (and is willing to do) who could create such a logo?

My abilites in this respect are fairly mediocre.

Any ideas, how such a TEA logo should look alike?

HM203 arrived. Seems to work fine but missing the channel 1/2 switch button which was expected. Easy enough repair! I'll tear it down and work out the full situation later.

Also just got an HM605 which is a 60 meg one with delay sweep and graticule illumination etc

So that's back up to 4 scopes again. 

(edit: and only one is a Tek and it's a digital one!)

I actually bought this because quite frankly the Siglent and Tektronix X-Y displays are fucking shit (yeah there I said it) and it won't work with this shonky spectrum analyser I got. Nor will they work nicely with the curve tracer I'm working on.

Well firstly the scope has been dropped. The chassis is slightly bent. I managed to get the case off fine though. The damage is limited to a slightly damaged corner and the ch1/2 button popping off. This was repaired with a cable tie:



A few of the controls were sticky. Again an easy fix. This is because a couple of shafts had a nice layer of rusty coating on them. I've cleaned them up with a scotchbrite and rubbed some wd40 in to slow it down next time and they're as smooth as butter now.



And it works fine! I can't take a decent picture of the display but it's pretty good. I am happy 



And there goes my half day off so back to work now
