No time to linger... just survived first night in the new place.  :phew:

It's a 80s tract housing duplex that has been "by owner" renovated, so pretty much a shithole with a lot of fresh paint, cheap Pergo floors and smart appointments; our old place was positively palatial in comparison. But it was what we could get with our crappy credit, and we'd run out of time for home shopping, so it's gonna have to do until we can get properly established here in the GWN. There have been some hopeful developments in that area, but I won't go into detail lest I jinx it.

Okies... gotta run; baby grrl is up and wants brekkerzz.

Well, here's an update on the Keithley 2000.

Seller messaged me:

I don't know why but the payment email is wrong. I got one email for my Ebay account and another for my PayPal. fro some reason the listing made you pay the money at my Ebay email instead of my PayPal account email.
Please cancel the payment that is already made to *******@yahoo.com and pay it at ( *******@yahoo.co.uk ).
I will see why this happened after the transaction finish .. can't do anything as long there's an active transaction.
Sorry again for this delay ...but I realy had no idea that this was happening.

This looks a bit like someone either, (a) trying to cancel the transaction on the basis I cancelled the payment, or (b) circumvent eBay payment system to avoid seller fees/buyer protections.

Or ofc it could be just (c) me being paranoid.

There's nothing wrong with a healthy level of paranoia. It could be that the seller is just inexperienced. Regardless, buyers should not be fixing (and often can't fix) sellers' problems. Have the seller contact eBay to correct the problem. You paid via eBay Checkout, right? Then you should not be paying directly to any PayPal email addresses.

I want to measure the storage time of some fast diodes, but none of the pulse generators I have are fast enough.  I have a Colby PG1000A 1 GHz pulse generator with 200ps rise and fall times, but it does not have enough output amplitude swing to make diode measurements, so I bought this HP 8082A pulse generator I bought on fleabay for parts or repair.

It has a broken power switch and light, but seems to be somewhat working.  The rise and fall times are excellent (<1ns).  However the output amplitude is a bit low (4.5V vs 5V).  I will work on it, record the troubleshooting and repairs, and post a video when I am done.

Here is a preliminary look at it.  Click on the imaged for much larger versions.

That would fetch over the double and the 12c would be as much again on top here. Prices for Object Of Desire as discussed here are simply insane this side of the ditch.

@graybeard:

If you need something faster as a puls generator, there is this one from forum fellow Leo Bodnar.
It has a rise time of about 40ps.

I want at least a 5V or more output swing with variable offset.  A fast edge alone will not do what I want.   My Colby PG100A pulse generator is more than fast enough with rise and fall times <200ps, but it only has 2.5V.   The Colby is faster than ~350 ps rise/fall time on my 1GHz TDS794D o-scope.

The Leo Bodnar pulse generator does not have enough swing or an adjustable offset.  It is not appropriate for my needs.
