WinBlows Heads-Up:

Currently having an intermittent BSOD issue on my gaming/VR rig; exact wording varies but always some form of critical NTFS failure. This BSOD issue coincides with a recent Feature Update; I've rolled back and completely disabled Windows Update for the time being in an attempt to isolate if it is actually the update or just coincidence vs my unusual Boot drive config:

(Dual NVMe in RAID 0)

I will update here if any new developments.

mnem

Version 2004... yeah... took my apple, running windows (boot camp).... 2 days...installing, rollingback etc... and it was a delayed push even... but now it runs...smooth evben... luckely no BSOD
at some point it will run...

Those are some ancient boilers in the basement, were they heavy oil fired ones do you know? I had to maintain some old boilers in my first work placement after leaving school. They had an elaborate array of pipework laid in front of each boiler which also had electric preheaters for the thick black sludge to enable it to be pumped under pressure into the boiler combustion chamber for ignition. That fuel oil stank the basement out if it leaked a drop anywhere. Thick, dark, sticky and like treacle, it took a lot of hard work cleaning up any spillage when I had to replace the pumps, filters or the preheaters. I was very glad when in later years they were eventually replaced by gas fired boilers, much more civilized they were  :phew:

Yes, oil, and later gas, I believe.

They were left behind because the gaskets between each section are made from asbestos and it was deemed too difficult to dispose of them safely.

The feckwit well meaning fellow who heads the consortium has the idea of using them as a bar counter. Just goes to show, even self-made multi-millionaires lose their wits when nostalgia takes control.

That particular seller is a test equipment rental company, Microlease or whatever their current name is. I guess they know what the market will stand better than most. My peeve with them is no photos dispite this being an ebay requirement. I've given up complaining to ebay about it.

I don't think I've ever seen an 8840 make more than £160 or so, and I thought that was madness. £623 is pretty much the new price. Now if it was NIB I can see that selling, but not otherwise. Same for the 8060A.

Hi bitseeker,

how's it going with the catchup?   :-DD

Aw, man. You had to ask? :o :-DD

Well...the week before vacation was crazy, as it usually is before leaving. Then, catching up after coming back is a bear, as it usually is. So...

Since even skimming text is no longer feasible, I've resorted to scanning until an interesting pic makes me stop and look around. ;D

It's working pretty well so far. I've been adding entries to the POI along the way, too.

Yeah, I saw in a recent mailbag, I think it was, where Dave used user-submitted photos as the background during his video. He even did an informal tour of the stuff on and above the bench. It's a cool idea, sort of like a virtual tour version of the "show us your bench" thread in the forum.

That's the charme of this thread. Whenever you are visiting it, one can watch

- med painting something blue, except it is his bedroom
- Saskia playing with 50g of ceefour
- bd139 is buying / selling something
- tony is buying a counter.
- nixiefreqq is ranting about RPN calulators
- the Dwagon is lamenting on <insert topic of your choice here>
- tautech is playing with Siglent stuff
- BU508A is trying to find strange R&S gear
- Zucca has this ongoing marriage-project
- bitseeker is trying to catch-up
- 0culus buying another RPN calculator *
- cubdriver is frolicing around with his cats *
- not sure what Cerebus is doing but I think it has something to do with magic smoke and syringes **
- ...

please feel free to add any thoughts to this list.    :-DD

* Edit 1
** Edit 2

OK, that was too funny! I had to add it to the POI as a bit of history of the state of the TEA thread circa August 2020.
