Moved the audio streamer from the test bench to the stereo and hooked it up to the newly integrated threshold preamp.
VERY nice.

Even though the streamer is in a silver case and the rest of my stuff is black.

Playback control via smartphone is possible ...

speaking of which.

It's playing back a very relaxed shine on you crazy diamonds in a quality that is not to be sniffed at.

Winner Winner, no tofu dinner.

The issue with that album is that in quiet passages with good equipment you can hear the master tape hiss.

Very true, I could hear that with my old set up which is sadly, no more as SWMBO objected to both the size and the volume of it, now replaced with a fairly simple CD system tucked out of sight behind the TV  :palm:

Postman does not need to ring, the dog (german shepard husky cross) announces him.
Backing this morning was my "no output" Wavetek 275 AWB / Function generator. Plug it in and sure enough no ouput :-BROKE. Checked the weird PCB mounted output fuse - OK (both sides). Checked the sync output nothing there either.  Hmm, lifted the top PCB and had a look-
 1049834-0
So that was easy - have a guess, no prizes!
As I said looks good on top of the 278
1049838-1

So now I have two function generators, one pulse generators and one arbitary waveform generator in two boxes. There are no knobs to twiddle, but if you want an exact setting these are great. Hmm, maybe I could hook an encoder and some function buttons to a PIC and the GPIB port...

Hard to tell but it could it be that the ribbon cable is unplugged?

ok, the parts for a 2nd streamer have arrived, this time with different OP Amps. It will be somewhat difficult to find the nuances where they differ ...

Hubby complained about lack of bass when playing back Pink Floyd. This could easily be amended by mounting the crossover and the 2 additional power amps.

BUT.

Given the temperatures outside and the fact, that my main power amp is a 200 W Pure Class A adding 2 100W / 8Ohms tube amps would turn this place into a furnace.

Also we are in the top floor of a rental flat.

While the speakers don't have any issue with 200 - 300 W that you pump in, the neighbors most certainly will.

Bummer.

I always wanted to listen to the 1812 Overture at concert level ...

@Zucca why don't you try this very tasty and yummy apple ?  >:D

And PA0PBZ wins the non-prize.
Med you don't get it becuse P12 is not a ribbon connector and there is a ribbon connector in the picture. P12 has coaxial cables and carries the output signals ot the front panel.

Dear Mr. MNEM,

in response to your enquiry about a 'sack of cunts' we regret that we have to inform you that you obviously were not provided with our trademark quality products or with items, which might already have surpassed their intended service life and which were slated for disposal.
We assure you that our products are NEVER handled in such a careless manner as throwing them in some bag or sack would suggest. Generally, our products are available only as single items which are shipped in a quality protective fabric cover. Same holds true for the dual packaged items, which had been available on special occasions only. Mass distribution packaging is done by TRAYS with paper/cardboard seperators, which do safeguard against items sticking to each other. For reference, please use the enclosed picture.

Moved the audio streamer from the test bench to the stereo and hooked it up to the newly integrated threshold preamp. VERY nice.

Even though the streamer is in a silver case and the rest of my stuff is black.   Playback control via smartphone is possible ...
