That's the charme of this thread. Whenever you are visiting it, one can watch

- med painting something blue, except it is his bedroom
- Saskia playing with 50g of ceefour
- bd139 is buying / selling something
- tony is buying a counter.
- nixiefreq is ranting about RPN calulators
- the Dwagon is lamenting on <insert topic of your choice here>
- tautech is playing with Siglent stuff
- BU508A is trying to find strange R&S gear
- Zucca has this ongoing marriage-project
- bitseeker is trying to catch-up
- ...

please feel free to add any thoughts to this list.    :-DD

All the others are busy writing a post about the best wire stripper tool.

Anybody in need of a Keithley DMM7510?
This is a used one. I've bought my DMM7510 from this seller and I'm very happy with it. NAWTS except for being a happy customer.
The price (1698.- Euro) is excluding VAT and shipping.

Caps replaced. Look at these bastards. The cracked ones were actually across the switch not the mains which was interesting. One of the smaller ones is missing the top because I popped it with the pliers getting it out.

BD,
Are you including the backlight mod?

https://www.eevblog.com/forum/projects/hp-3457a-lcd-backlight-mod-(also-for-3478a)/msg227880/#msg227880

Frans

Not with this one. My objective with kit is a relatively uncompromising restoration to original condition and repair only. I will suffer the shitty display for that  or at least until a 3456A turns up :-DD

It isn't as easy as it looks to get them out but you can do it without messing up the cal data:

Rear ones (1000pF Y2's between line and ground):

1. Unplug the rear IEE488 cable from the board.
2. Replace (easy but a bit fiddly)

Side ones (22nF Y2's across switch):

1. take side frame of instrument off (7 screws)
2. Loosen power switch
3. Desolder old ones wiggling slowly and pull out with tweezers
4. Stuff new ones in (painful but doable)

No cal data risk there. Unless you drop something on the board  :-DD

look what I found in the mail.

Guess what it is.

(In catch up mode)

That's too easy. I've never had one of the originals, used one, or even been knowingly close to one. The giveaway is the "VIC", "SID" and "64" on the silkscreen.

No spoiler, just in case.
