I'm never using RS again. They still haven't delivered the capacitors I ordered a week ago for the 8060A despite estimated dispatch being yesterday and them being marked as dispatched but I called them up and they haven't.

TME - dispatched poland 4pm yesterday. Here 11:00am...

At least my projects are go now on the parts front :-+

Edit: got hold of RS and apparently the three line items were dispatched from Japan despite being actually in stock for next day delivery ffs. Idiotic ordering system. Told I can't cancel them and just return them when they turn up.  :--

Don't you think that RS are typical of many British businesses, don't care about customer service and use any old excuse that they can think they can get away with rather say, sorry we fucked up, let me put this right? This is only going to get even worse very soon the nearer we get to the end of the year as they know that the service offered by the likes of TME is going get worse as we  chop our final links with the EU  :scared:

Are they the guys that advertise "Free shipping" ? Not so free is it if they don't deliver.  :-//

UPS 2 day for Mouser from Texas to NY is flat rate $7.99. Yea, not cheap but even during the worst of the pandemic always got the parts on time.  And every once in a while they thanked me for being a customer by upgrading to next day without an additional charge. Can't beat that.  :-+

Come the end of the year, I fully expect that Mouser's service will be at the mercy of the Customs staff and delays will be introduced because we aren't ready to deal with no deal yet  :palm:

Yeah it's going to be even more shit. I notice TME and Mouser have UK offices so they should be able to cover a supply line at least. I will head that way from now on.

I went for TME this time because they're the only reseller shipping Wish breadboards any more (I can hear tggzzz hissing and spitting as I mention that). Mouser next time

TME - dispatched poland 4pm yesterday. Here 11:00am...

And next year? :(

See above. They have UK offices. I expect 3-5 days.

When I order from Mouser now, the items are shipped from the USA even though they have office in High Wycombe, so unless they start stocking over here, thats going to get progressively worse for a while.

Gonna be 32 degrees C + here for the next few days. I hate the heat. Any outside activity early then stay inside with the A/C. Damn the electric bill.  :scared:

Nothing is squaddie proof  :-DD

Fluke 25/27 won't cause explosions, if operated according to the manual. There's nothing about whether they would survive an explosion.

I'll bet that one would survive a good kicking if it is in the plastic case.
They most certainly would float really well in their protective plastic cases thats for sure.

"Brokeit" or "Fuxit", its the equivalent of demoting ourselves from the Premier league to the ranks of a Sunday league team that can be found playing in any old parkland in the UK.

I hate the heat, but - in the UK - I dislike a/c more.

I worked in a/c offices for 20 years, and could never tell what season it was.

I've found three ways of becoming less bothered by the heat:
  • becoming bald, and losing the microclimate on my head
  • becoming old; the snowbirds migrate for a reason
  • deleting some blubber from around my waist, thus becoming less like a seal

I love A/C. To each his own.

1. Still have a full head of hair.
2. Already old but I don't migrate.
3. No excess blubber. (Well, just a tad, maybe 10 pounds  :-DD)

I think it's in my genes to hate the heat.

Pat's care package of 12AT7s and 6AU6s arrived safely...this has now fully restored the functionality of the Type CA plug-in. I just need to adjust it a bit for the new toobs. An issue remains with the Type 81 Plug-In Adapter. All of the non-type 80 series plug-ins I have EXCEPT for the Type Z exhibit serious 60 Hz hum issues when used in the adapter. Since the Type 81 contains a small transformer, a bridge rectifier, and few caps (including one big can stuffed in), I believe I may need to go all "med" on this thing and replace the caps.  :-DD I am quite certain the 585A is not at fault because the Type 82 plug-in functions perfectly.

Before doing the re-cap, which I recommend, you might want to check ground integrity from the plug-in, to the adapter, to the 585. If there's high resistance you will certainly get hum.
