https://www.schlockmercenary.com/2020-07-23

And with this page, Schlock Mercenary draws to a close. Howard Tayler has produced this iconic webcomic since my wife and I were courting; updating every day without fail for just a hair over twenty years.

Good Luck Howard!

I wonder if carbosilicate amorphs eat dwagons...?
That's not finished, wait until you see the page with "The End..."

I can wait. Never heard of it and after wasting my time looking it over this knuckle dragging neanderthal doesn't get it and frankly has no desire to "get it".  ::) :palm:

Ehhh... Howard has said there will be more set in this Universe. He's just going on sabbatical for a bit and no longer going to be updating daily. I think he's earned his day of rest. ;)

Good lord med; the whole point of the thing is to satirize the knuckle-draggers...  :palm: Yeah, sure... It's mostly adolescent wish-fulfillment; just like 98% of what we see in the theaters right now.  :-//

Cupboard of doom doesn’t look any different. Still can’t work out how that works out  :-//

Doom expands to fill the space available...

... at which point The Hobby becomes much cheaper. If you want to buy something then you have to throw something out first, and we all know how difficult that is (bd139 excepted :) ).

No, then the car gets evicted and has to to live in the driveway. >:D

Sorry, I'm one step ahead of you.

My car lives on the drive, or it would if the drive wasn't occupied by scaffolding.

Yes, there is some old test equipment in my even older asbestos sheet "garage", safely stored in a large sealed case

Go on then, post a photo proving that you can  :-DD :-DD :-DD
:P
Not me, a cat or dog you muggins !

Tried but could never quite reach...............  :-DD

And if most men COULD, they'd stay home at night. And all day.  :-DD

And there'd be no more wars and for the most part greed, murder and politics would all be scary bedtime stories we tell our kids to make them behave...

453 is nice. I’ve owned two. First one the cat pissed in and blew it up. I didn’t know enough to deal with it then so I gave it to someone (years ago).

Hope the new owner managed to train the cat not to piss in TE...
That explains BD's hatred of cats then  :-DD :-DD :-DD

One of the many reasons. It was bought as a mouser. All it did was wet the mice and observe me chasing the things round with a metal ruler. It also attacked my eldest out of the blue.

Honestly I don’t know why people like the things other than via toxoplasma Gondi infection.

Mhhhmmm... I think there is the first mistake in that relationship...  ???

A dog comes when it's called; a cat takes a message and will get back to you.

Meh.  :-// I've had both... I don't value unconditional love the way most "dog people" do. Generally much prefer a pet with enough self-esteem that it will leave if you're a assh'o.  ???

Yes but not if I buy lots of expensive test gear  :-DD

The temptation has been there but it’s important that you objectively derive value from a purchase rather than end up with an ornament.

Edit: I’m still trying to justify a new keysight bench DMM. But I can’t really when the alternative is patience and a decisive eBay strike. As time is not a constraint for the project.

Just want to say thanks to TEA again in particular bd139, without this evil thread I would not have installed VS Code and learned Python.
What a powerful language, highly recommended!

Bye bye Visual Basic/C++ from the 2000....

It's ambiguous, but it looks like that haul might include a 6.5 digit Agilent DMM plus a 5.5 digit DMM plus some switches.  >:D

Not that ambiguous, it does include a 5.5 & a 6.5 DMM but they are both VXI headles units. The 5.5 will proabaly be in a dedicated slot.

Great little meters, doubles up as a hammer. Has a great hold function for taking readings in tight spaces, press hold, probe circuit and meter will bleep each time a new reading is taken, very useful.
